Do you guys PAUSE your music halfway?

What I mean by that is:

If your listening to an album, especially one that takes up most of a CD (up to 80 minutes), so you pause the music somewhere half way? For example, if you're listening to A Dramatic Turn Of Events, you pause it after This Is The Life for about a minute.

I don't do this regularly, but sometimes, especially for long albums, if I remember to do so, I'll pause it when I feel a half way point has been reached.
3 good reasons to do this are: 1 - you get an idea of what the album would be like if released in the 70s on vinyl (if it was, then there you go). 2 - you get to give your ears a break, which helps keep the music, for the second half of an album, fresh. 3 - bathroom breaks  :laugh:

Does anyone else do this?

Nope...I only pause when I have a phone call or something. 

Still, I do find it fascinating that, even to this day, albums do seem to carry a "flow" very akin to a vinyl album.   There's always a sortof "this is the end of act 1" feel at the halfway point of most albums.     Even on something like APSOG....at the end of part 6, you really feel like the "side" could fade out there, and then part 7 could open side two with a kick in the ass.

Like I said, I don't do this regularly, but it's an interesting thing to do once in a while.

I listen to a lot of Flower Kings and some of their albums are so long, that a break is needed (one of them is over 2 1/2 hours long).

QFT. Fapping is much more awesome with music in the background.

I agree with the concept of the thread, but I can't say that I do it. There was an album that I was listening to a while ago that had the "half-way point" effect so profound that it really jumped out at me. I can't for the life of me remember what it was though.

SDOIT is well written in that way (the song, not disc 1). same goes for SFAM.

it seems to be part of a general 'wave' of listening habits i've developed, though. right now, i am one of those evil 'track by track, playlist mentality' listeners, and have been for a few months. just kinda... happened. i think it's influenced by the way my workload operates at school, because we only have the time to work on single songs. there were a few spells of full album listening when i discovered Alcest and some more Moonsorrow records, but they were generally short lived once i digested those albums. still working on Moonsorrow, though; i love it, but their stuff is tough to get into full-on, if that makes any sense.

with that said, i may switch back into album-by-album, which is my usual mode.
