PULSE - Downes/Holmes/Levin/D'Virgilio

So NDV recently updated his FB status to this:

He stated back in November (during his statement about leaving SB) that he would find time to record with Big Big Train and Pulse again sometime in 2012, and it seems that time is now (as he also recently updated his status as having been in the studio with BBT). Apparently this has been a project put together by Rob Aubrey, and started FIVE YEARS ago.

I'm not sure if Thomas Lang is still involved as I haven't seen his name attached to any of the more recent interviews/updates on the project, but now that NDV isn't with SB, he could be taking all the drum duties for this project (in addition to doing vocals), and with it being five years in the making, I sure hope it sees the light of day this year.

The prospect of these four guys coming together to make music just makes me feel so damn good. They're all masters at their craft, so I'm anxious to hear what they've got written and recorded, especially with NDV on drums AND vocals.

Listen to show 7B, around the 33-minute mark. Pretty interesting, and I like the way it sounds, it's very much a mix their individual talents into something that isn't quite what they've done before.

Indeed, and the preview track I posted above sounds really good - it's like a harder-rocking Asia with neo-prog leanings. This will probably be one of my more anticipated releases of the year!

 :lol Yes, Holmes is an amazing guitarist and his sound is so unique to IQ that when I heard him play on the track "Immortalized" I instantly recognized his sound!

When I saw "Levin" my first thought was Tony Levin.

As noted in the OP, it's Rob Aubrey, the creator (I guess?) of this project. But it is indeed Tony Levin on bass for this project.

Ah, I didn't put that together.  I was trying to match the names in the thread title to the names in the quote.

Most super-group/side-projects with Levin usually don't, or if they do, it's limited (like with LTE or B.L.U.E.). I'm pretty sure Bozzio/Levin/Stevens never hit the road, and last year's Levin/White/Torn didn't as far as I know.
