an obscure song roulette - Rd 2 results are up!
« Reply #184 on: February 29, 2012, 01:40:41 AM »
This round, five souls are damned to float the eternity of pain that is the river. Yet, don't lose hope as one of the lost souls from the river emerged with enough silver pennies to catch the Ferryman's eye and that one soul, namely DTVT is back in the Halls of the Dead!!!

The other Elite is nowhere to be seen ???

The remaining 12 souls are hoarding pennies for more real estate in the Elysium Fields (and maybe even backstage passes).

This is going to be the last round in the Halls and it is going to be semi-open. Those with enough pennies to tempt the Ferryman from this round will start the journey towards the Elysium Fields with me...

who submitted what and the semi-theme are coming shortly.....

stay tuned....  ;)

you're in the river hun.... but DTVT swam his way back to the Hall... so if you've got a song to send... shoot... or send me a belly dancing perf.. and ta daa you're back in the game  ;)

First of all I want to let you know that I had to reject some songs... I know how it feels to want to get someone into the band you love... but there are some bands that I think I’ve given a fair chance but never could do the trick for me.... So.... No more Pain of Salvation ... No more Opeth please... feel free to send those in addition to your actual submissions... I’d appreciate that... You might also wanna avoid sumbitting The Dear Hunter and Mars Volta... I don’t want you to hate me after this roulette  :lol  but again, reccommending me songs by these bands is always appreciated....  Who want to miss on great songs??...

Now R2 resuts:

JBoy  6+1+1 Flaming Row - Rage of Despair (1 extra silver penny for introducing an amazing concept album and a whole lot of great musicians to me another penny for the compelling summary he provided about the project).. very well done honey... I'd give you one more penny if I could...
WebRaider 6+2  Protest The Hero – Moonlight  (2 extra pennies for only sweeping me off my feet.. bloody hell Raider.. you’ve done a great job)
Yorost 6+1 Dead Soul Tribe - Angels in Vertigo (1 extra silver penny for giving me a good background)
boy_floyd  6+1  Rusty Cooley / Outworld – Warcry (Bloody Hell floyd… this song made me bang my head hard… all these guys are on fire.. very impressive chorus.. nice riffs… very well chosen honey.. congrats… also extra penny for walking me through how you came across the song)
King 6+1 The weight - Sieges Even (extra penny for sending me a what I consider a really good ballad for a non-ballad round... y'all know that it’s a challenge in my roulette.. King nailed it)
Rich  5,5 Closure in Moscow – Afterbirth
Zantera   5 Amplifier – Airborne
Ytse 4,5  Ozric Tentacles - Waterfall City
Kari 4,5 +0,5  And So I Watch You From Afar - Set Guitars To Kill (half a penny for the cute drummer.. not kidding… this brings me to our very first semi-theme… in a few secs…)
Deathlok 4,5 Moonlit Sailor - Hope
DTVT 4,5 + 0.5 Haggard - Per Aspera Ad Astra (half a penny for telling me why he picked this song... This score could be higher actually... the trouble is that I'm familiar with Haggard's work... and sent him an e-mail regarding this and asked for a new song... but he might have told me that he's not checking the e-mail account and asked for a PM instead... so he's now given  the chance to give me an extra song to ask for extra pennies next round.. I think that's fair.... )
lonestar- 4,5 Martin Orford- Out In The Darkness
King in Crimson 4 Intronaut – Elegy
Nekov 3 Korpikliani - Voice Of Wilderness - Beer, Beer
Cyclops 3,5 Ka-Boom  -  Didn´t mean a thing (?)
TheStinger 3 Tantric – Astounded
Cup – 3 The Flaming Lips - Fight Test (Cat Stevens - Father and Son rip off???)

New Round...

It’s actually another open round... But slightly specified... I want a video (along with the mp3 if possible) where I see me some exciting performers... I don’t mind guys or gals... I love watching good looking or passionate people on stage..for me it’s part of the experience.. you can take kari’s and floyd’s submissions as examples... or take a look at this.. I dig Einar’s passion on this video.... or give me a Daniel  or a Stu.. I think you got the idea.... don’t get me wrong tho... all those songs (bands) are gold... I am not asking for pretty-faces-only ... I’m want some good shit with some extra this time....
I give you 4 days... Deadline is the 3rd of March.... go.. bring me gems....

WebRaider and Chad... thank you ... just thank you! damn....

and Rich... thanks for Scar Symmetry.. I checked them out God knows how many times.. and had some fave songs like Morphogenesis, The Anomaly, The Illisionist.. and so on... but never thought they could one day go up there right next to my fave bands... so thanks hun... I owe you one extra penny... please claim your silver penny with next round's submission.... that song and a lot of others by SS are blowing my mind at the moment....

Best of luck guys....

Awesome! :D

Glad you enjoyed the Closure in Moscow as well, I wasn't too worried when you mentioned you weren't a fan of the Mars Volta, as like I said, CiM are a lot more accessible and energetic.

I'm glad you like my song Nem.  They are a very cool Prog band but like you said less on the heavy side.  Check out their 2 albums from the 2000's.  I bet you'd like them.

hhhmmmm... Dilemma now.  Most of my favorite live performances are from bands you will already know.  This round is gonna suck for me.  Good thing I started strong.

Question, can bands already submitted (by anyone) be re-used?

Fair question Chad...

It might be acceptable for this round, only if I'm not already familiar with their line up and performance on stage..... The thing is I have accepted bands that I know of up to now.. such as Gamma Ray... Symphony X... and some others...

I mean I have seen Russel Allen live three times for heaven's sake.. even got hit on  :lol

so I will reject such bands... others are OK FOR THIS ROUND! (and for the next round of which I will declare the theme today)

Checking with me wouldn't do any harm.. but mind you ... giving me something new tunes can always bring you extra pennies....

I hope it makes sense....

I think I've got a perfect song.  Not prog by has prog elements.  Very famous musician but I need to look into your music when I get home Nem to see if you've heard it before.  It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and see it.
