I'm studying MIS. I've been thinking about getting into app developement for mobile platforms. Not 99cent games, but useful stuff. My biggest complaint with tablets right now is mobile versions of webpages, and applications for companies or websites that lack content and information. I want to change that, while at the same time make it simple to navigate, and maybe the preferred way of viewing content.

I'm a freelance 3D animator (see sig), currently working on a music video that some of you have had the joy of hearing me bitch about daily.
I'm also working on making some 3D mobile games.

I'm a funeral intern/soon to be funeral director.
My sister is a funeral director as well. You guys have all of my respect for doing what you do!

As for me, I'm an undergraduate looking to get a degree in english to someday become a journalist. But I'd much rather work at my hometown golf course where I have been for 5 years  :(

I work with IT at our local welfare office. That includes IT support for the staff, updating our website, taking photos for information material, gathering data for statistics, among other stuff.

In short, I browse DTF and drink coffee all day.

I have a BS degree (pun intended) in Industrial Technology, currently finishing up an MS in Education by the end of this summer. I'll either start my 1st year of teaching this next school year or see if I can't use my BS degree to land a position in a somewhat recovering job market in the Silicon Valley.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a BS degree? I'm asking because every time I read this I think you have a bullshit degree and as funny as that is I don't think that's what BS means here  :P

A BS degree is a Bachelor of Science, i.e. a 4-year degree at a university.  In this case, I'm using both interpretations.   :sadpanda:

An MS is a Master of Science, typically an additional 2-3 years of coursework plus original research.

It's good that you're getting a taste of the business while in school.  I've seen way too many people spend buttloads of cash on a culinary degree thinking they're gonna be the next Thomas Keller just because they have Grandma's untouchable lasagna recipe, only to realize it's really hard fucking work.  For example, when I finish typing this, I will go to work, clock in at 9am, bust out a party of 50 while cooking 100+ lunch covers.  Then I will finish V-Day prep, open at 5:30pm, bust out 300 dinners.  Then after I will spend about an hour doing orders, prep list, and administrative crap, and hopefully leave by 11:00pm.   Good luck man, it's a great job, but you have to earn the fun. :lonestar:

Finishing up my Ph.D. in Organic and Polymer chemistry - I'm sure you can figure out the school from my handle if you're American.  Just dotting i's and crossing t's on dissertation as it is written and been editted, and getting ready to defend in the next month.

I've had my eyes set on university professorship, but its looking more and more like a post-doc is going to be a stepping stone.

I also used to play backgammon and poker for fairly serious money, but those have dried up as I don't live near a casino - or anything really, other than trees - and I don't trust online sites anymore and have withdrawn my money from them.  I just don't have the time to drive 3.5 hours to Charleston, WV anymore, and even then it's only poker.

Have a degree in design management- engineering, interior, architecture, graphic... don't really use it.

I'm considered a "Quality Associate" for an aesthetic device company and currently filling their document control position until its filled. Then I'll get ISO certified to do internal audits, process improvements...

I always assume people do for me too. Which is why I never say anything more than "I'm an engineer for a medical device company." Busting out into "well... I do process improvements, making things more efficient and cheaper, I validate processes to ensure that the quality of our products will always be high..." basically makes people glaze over. Although there are very few jobs out there that people are really interested in what you're doing.

At least you have work that pays.

I often debated whether to choose something I love and make little money, or choose something I'm good at but don't particularly love and make good money. I chose the latter.

Sounds like you and I are in the same business. The company I work for isn't considered a medical device in some countries, but is in others. It all depends on the regulatory body.
