Sweet!  That's 12.  So I'm thinking the best way to do this is to just put all 12 names in a hat and draw them randomly, and the match ups will be played in the order they come out.  First round will be 6 games, second round will be 3 games.  Then we'll have three people left.  Whichever of those three got the highest score in their second round game will get a bye, and the other two will play each other, then the final will be the remaining two.  Sounds good?  (If somebody has a better way of doing it, I'm open to ideas... this was just the best I could think of).

Sure... Best of 3 works too.  Wanna make each matchup a best of 3?  I'm ok with extending it to play as many games as necessary .

Exactly why I suggested it.  We could have 4 pools of 3, or 2 pools of 6.  From there we can make a final bracket of 4 or 8.  The other advantage of pools is that you could play all your pool opponents at once in a best of 3 so it wouldn't take that much longer than playing one opponent at a time.

Margin of victory would be the tie-breaker.  Total points isn't a good indicator because one match might require more defense than another, But if three people finish with identical 3 and 3 records, Player A had a point differential of +24 points, Player B had a point differential of -14 points, and player B had a point differential of -10 points, then Player A would win the pool, with Player C being second place, and B third.

I'm not a fan of how Chino decides how people get to the finals from round 3.

Ok, I like the pool play idea.  I put all the names into a list randomizer and they came out in the following order:

The winners of each pool will be determined by the method in the above post.  Semi-Finals will be Best of 3 matches between the winners off Pool 1 vs. Pool 2 and Pool 3 vs. Pool 4.  Finals will be the winners of each of these two matches in a final best of 5 match.

For the first round, each person in the pool will be responsible for starting a game against the person below them in their pool.  So, for example, in Pool 1, Splent would start a game against me, I would start a game against senecadawg, and senecadawg would start a game against Splent.  After the game is over, post your final scores.

Senecadawg and I just finished our game.  I just barely squeaked out a 383 - 373 victory.  It came down to the last move... haven't had a game that intensely close for a very long time.  He took an early lead, then it took me maybe five or six turns to claw back into contention, and from that point on I'm pretty sure the lead changed back and forth with every single move until the last.
