3. 8VM
That's higher than it usually is.  What do you like about it?

It's my all time favorite number one album.  I still don't get the hate for it *at all*.
What about all the crappy songs?

Most people just skip that song and enjoy the other 7, so it's not a big deal.
:omg: You cannot be referring to the title track.

What?  No, of course not.  I was referring to TALW.  Other than that, it's pretty much a flawless album.  5 great or almost great songs.  2 that are pretty good.  And one that I don't care for.  That's a pretty good batting average.

Well, that one is definitely the worst on the album.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Two I don't care for, three are pretty good, and three great or almost great songs. It's a fine album overall.

There's nothing wrong with TALW. Granted, It'd be towards the bottom of a song raking for Octavarium, but it's not bad. Never Enough though... Yeah, if it weren't for the lyrics and JLB's weird singing, it wouldn't be bad.

It's not "bad," but it just does absolutely nothing to hold my interest, to the point where I often skip it.

Thank you as well.

Not many people seem to like The Answer Lies Within. IMO, it's one of the better songs from Octavarium.

Agreed. It's probably 3rd or 4th best.

Nice. I'd put it at 4 behind 8VM, Sacrificed Sons, And The Root.

I'd call it one of the lesser songs on the album, although I don't think it's one of the bad songs on the album. I just find it a bit dull to listen to. The only two songs I'd rank behind it on Octavarium are Never Enough and maybe IWBY (although I occasionally have a soft spot for IWBY, so that one's a close call).
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I like it only from Full Circle.

I don't remember TALW. I'll put it playing now.

Panic Attack and Never Enough are great songs.

The problem is length.  At 2 to maybe 3 minutes it probably would have been fairly well received overall, but as it stands it's just too painfully long for what little it does musically.

1. Awake
2. SDOIT
3. I&W

4. FII
5. SFAM
6. ADTOE/ToT
7. Octavarium

8. BC&SL
9. SC - never gets listened to unless PoW. ITPE 2 or Forsaken  randomly pop up on shuffle and I am too lazy to skip.

WDADU - 10th if we're talking about studio version, 5th next to SFAM when good JLB live recordings are considered.

As for now, in Tiers:
-The Masterpiece Triad-
1. Awake (By a short margin)
1.5 Images and Words
3. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
-Amazing Albums-
4. Scenes from a Memory
5. Octavarium
6. A Dramatic Turn of Events
-Very Good albums-
7. Falling into Infinity
8. Train of Thought
9. Black Clouds & Silver Linings
-Meh-
10. Systematic Chaos
11. WDADU

I don't think they have and album that I consider "bad" but for DT standards, a Meh album is pretty disappointing.

Well my top three and bottom three are clearly better and worse than the others.  Everything in the middle is pretty interchangeable.

In no particular order:

The Top 3
A Dramatic Turn of Events
Awake
Octavarium

The Middle of the Pack
Scenes From a Memory
Train of Thought
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Images & Words

The Bottom 3
Falling Into Infinity
Systematic Chaos
When Dream and Day Unite

5. Metropolis Pt. II
6. Awake
7. BC&SL
8. SC
9. Octavarium (for the song Octavarium alone)
