I'm typically not a playlist guy, but since we're all gonna die tomorrow, I might as well make one later tonight.  :tup

Yea, I'm big on playlists too Matt.

I mean, 90% of the time I just listen to albums, but occasionally I love crafting the perfect list for my current mood.

I'm the same way.  Or I'll make something that just fits together really well like this old staple I made a few years ago:

Deadwing-Porcupine Tree
Satch Boogie-Joe Satriani
The Ocean-Led Zeppelin
Goliath-The Mars Volta
These Walls-Dream Theater
Paranoid Android-Radiohead
Our Truth-Lacuna Coil
Stockholm Syndrome-Muse
The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut-Coheed & Cambria

And my driving playlist:
The Pulse-Holy Fuck
Wasted Years-Iron Maiden
The Mob Rules- Black Sabbath
Acid Rain-Liquid Tension Experiment
Highway Star-Deep Purple
Smokin'-Boston
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here-Porcupine Tree
Don't Stop Me Now-Queen
Red Barchetta-James LaBrie (Working Man Tribute cover)
Big Blue-F-Zero soundtrack
Hyperdrive!-Devin Townsend Project
Gravemakers & Gunslingers-Coheed and Cambria
Bat Out of Hell-Meat Loaf
 :metal :metal :metal

Man, I never see Holy Fuck mentioned around here. I saw them in London a while back, it was an awesome show.

I don't have much of their stuff at all, I just followed a link to that song from the QC forums and loved it.  Its one of those bands I keep forgetting to delve into  :-[

The Dear Hunter - The Color Spectrum EPs
The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
And the one song to top it all off... R.E.M. - It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Woke up to Spock's Beard - Snow (played over-night)
Then listened to Radiohead's OK Computer
Now listening to Marillion's Marbles
After that...hmm, probably something by Porcupine Tree.

EDIT, decided on my remixed playlist of PT's In Absentia, included below for the curious:

1. Collapse
2. Blackest Eyes
3. Trains
4. Lips Of Ashes
5. The Sound Of Muzak

6. Gravity Eyelids
7. Orchidia
8. Futile
9. Wedding Nails

10. The Creator Has A Mastertape
11. Heartattack In A Layby
12. Strip The Soul
13. Chloroform

14. Drown With Me
15. Prodigal
16. .3
17. Collapse The Light Into Earth

(I designed the playlist as if it would've fit on vinyl, so each chunk of songs fit about 20-23 minutes of music, or a side of vinyl - the flow is pretty good, actually!)

EDIT 2 - After IA, I decided to listen to my remix playlist of Deadwing next, then after that Genesis' Wind & Wuthering, and now Rewiring Genesis' Tribute To The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

Oh, and somewhere in there was Neal Morse's track "The Wind + The Rain". :lol

I didn't get around to writing one, but this was what I listened to tonight.
Fleetwood Mac - Emerald Eyes
Rush - Hemispheres
The Dear Hunter - Things That Hide Away
The Dear Hunter - The Canopy
The Dear Hunter - Crow and Cackle
The Dear Hunter - The Inheritance
Meshuggah - Perpetual Black Second (Alive)
Meshuggah - Stengah (Alive)

The Mars Volta - Vicarious Atonemnt
The Mars Volta - Tetragrammaton

I'll probably write and play one tomorrow until I lose power :p

Well, my playlist has sort of just become listening to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's various projects. I just started listening to De Facto, and let me tell you, they are pretty damn good. Great way to just chill out.

Revised Playlist:

The Dear Hunter - Black, Red, Orange
The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command, In/Casino/Out
Karate - In Place of Real Insight, Karate
Brand New - Deja Entendu (first half)
De Facto - ¡Megaton Shotblast!
Brand New - Deja Entendu (second half)

Not quite sure where to go after that. Any suggestions?

Snow is absolutely wonderful, if a little long-winded.

Agreed, but if you take the time to absorb the whole thing, what starts as filler slowly becomes filling, and you get a sense of how everything in the album falls together. I've been listening to Snow for over 6 years now and it never ceases to amaze me!

V is pretty damn good too! I'd say you're starting off with the band's two best albums, then just work your way backwards, then if you wish to venture into the Nick-Era SB, just go forwards, although I will say X is one of their best albums, with or without Neal.

Well, as it turns out, I kind of fell asleep instead of listening to anything.

However, it will still be the next thing I play, so I'll report back. :)

Thread resufuckingrrected.

CD mix made tonight, somewhat eclectic:

Bright Eyes - At The Bottom of Everything
Eisley - Memories
Ed Kowalczyk - Grace
Theocracy - I AM
Lil Wayne - It's Good (feat. Drake & Jadakiss)
Lil Wayne - Intro
Lil Wayne - Interlude (feat. Tech N9ne & Andre 3000)
Lil Wayne - Outro (feat. Bun B, Nas, Shyne & Busta Rhymes)
Kanye West & Jay Z - Who Gon Stop Me
Weird Al Yankovic - Party In The CIA
Dream Theater - Build Me Up, Break Me Down
Fair To Midland - Whiskey & Ritalin
Voyager - Momentary Relapse of Pain
Thrice - Treading Paper
Thrice - Blinded
Pain Of Salvation - To The Shoreline
Porcupine Tree - Trains
James LaBrie - Coming Home

Points of interest: the Theocracy song ends on the same piano note with which the first Lil Wayne song begins.  I've been wanting to put them together for a while.  Secondly, the intro/interlude/outro, though they were split apart for the album, all featured the same beat, just with different people rapping; always wanted to put them together as one song.  So... yeah...

Probably the best CD-length "mix tape" I ever made. Fairly dark, flows extremely well, good mixture of genres/styles. The entire first half is instrumental.

1. Keith Jarrett - Opening (Dark Intervals)
2. Deep Purple - Son of Alerik
3. Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death
4. Sepultura - Kaiowas
5. The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
6. Faith No More - Evidence
7(and 8, I guess). Tool - Wings Suite
8(9). Machine Head - A Farewell to Arms
