The Keystone pipeline.

-- The Obama administration is expected to announce its opposition to the controversial Keystone oil sands pipeline project as early as Wednesday, according to a Democratic source briefed on the matter.

I would have liked to see this happen, and I am sad that it probably won't. While I think we need to get off our dependence of oil, I feel that this would have been put to good use while we make that transition.

The pipeline may not be dead though. The State Department memo said "the Department's denial of the permit application does not preclude any subsequent permit application or applications for similar projects."

Ya, how bout you reroute to an area other than the nations largest supply of drinking water. I guess it would cost a little bit more, but when and if leaks happen, it'll be safer for the drinking water. Of course, that's not in the oil companies interests

Yay, score one for the environmentalists. And for Obama, finally did something useful for the environmental community (the auto company reboot notwithstanding).
