Really excited to see Darvish pitch to Pujols here in TX.  Should be great.

Also, I really like the Beltran addition in STL.  2, 3, 4 is pretty awesome.

Excited for sure. No idea how the new players specifically Melky Cabrera and Angel Pagan will pan out. I like Nate, his arm is very valuable and plays the best right field AT&T park has ever seen. He was finally finding his stroke before he got injured. Obviously the biggest thing about the Giant's is Buster Posey returning. I think losing him for the season was underestimated. Possibly best offensive player on the team and the game manager. Pablo if healthy will probably hit 30 jacks and 100 RBI's keep up the workouts man! All I can expect is stellar pitching and most likely a low scoring team again but can they really be as bad as last season? It was almost as low as you could get.

Oh and Huff you better rebound this season and Pat the Bat retired thanks for the HR's and memories.

Anything new on Oswalt?

RUMOR here in the 'Nati is it's NEARLY a done deal that he'll soon sign with the Cincinnati Reds. St. Louis really doesn't have the cash, and Texas is pretty well happy with where they are right now; and a sports talking head here says that Madson has been lobbying him pretty hard, and he was seen at a local hot spot feeding trough here on Sunday night... Of course Walt Jocketty claims there has been nothing new to report, and he's sick of the rumors, and blah, blah, blah...this is the same man who said they had no interest in Cordero back when they stole him from Milwaukee, and who kept the Aroldis Chapman deal hush- hush when everyone thought he'd sign with the NY Yankees. I HATE Jocketty ONLY because he doesn't ever tip his hand. EVER!! So we'll see. But the Reds are NEARLY all- in this year, and signing Roy would I think make them the strongest team in the NL heading into the season. Their pitching will remind a lot of people of the 1990 Reds and the Nasty Boys. The bullpen this year will be a beast.

Reds 2012 BP:

Logan Ondrusek
Aroldis Chapman
Jose Arredondo
Nick Massett
Sam Lecure
Bill Bray
Sean Marshall
Ryan Madson

I would not want to face the Reds in the 7th, 8th, and 9th this year. Chapman. Marshall, Madson. No thanks.  :metal
R-E-D-S! Reds, Reds, Reds! :metal

I dunno man.  I'm not trying to homer here, but I really think that St. Louis has something to say about that.

What do we think about this Josh Hamilton thing?  I was thinking about making a whole thread for that situation in P/R for the broader application of it.  People really seem to be all in on him being a righteous dude.

I'm not sold.  Race seems to play a role in this, and I don't how much longer this guy can keep claiming Christ before people grow weary of it.

Six people were eyewitnesses to certain carnal activity Josh participated in with a woman at the bar he revisited in Dallas after his teammate Kinsler dropped him off at home.  There is reportedly an eight second video of this instance, and the person who filmed it is shopping it to local affiliates to the tune of $41,000 dollars.

I'm sad about this.  I know he's an addict.  But the guy has to get his stuff together.

Maybe you were thinking of Neftali Feliz.

There haven't been any news on moving Chapman to SP so far.

I thought Chapman was a SP now?

He hurt his shoulder apparently (mild strain) and couldn't really get much time in at winter ball, so they abandonded that idea, and he will get a chance to start in spring training. So NOW the idea is give him a narrow window in the spring; if he stumbles, back in the pen he'll go. If he does relatively well, AND everyone comes out of spring healthy, he'll start at AAA. I know he's been a starter in Cuba and all, but with that arm (unofficially threw 109 in practice early last year) I'd rather they keep him in the bullpen. Either make him a set-up guy or the closer in 2 years when (if) Madson leaves. I just think if you go several innings with that heat...odds are his arm can't deal with it for very long. Of course his mechanics and his stride really are very similar to Randy Johnson, and greatly contribute to his smoke, so who knows? Maybe he has great genes to go with everything else, and his arm won't fall off anytime soon, but toss him out there in the 6th or 7th, and that smoke and his wicked slider are such a contrast for most hitters that he's gonna be tough to hit, period. Apparently he worked this winter with Mario Soto on his change too. If that develops...look out. I saw something on Sports Science that said at 100mph, the hitter has to decide if he's going to swing or not, and actually load and begin his swing, BEFORE Chapman actually releases the ball. His FB averages 102. I'd hate to see him throw his arm out as a starter. Then again, in Cuba, he pitched like every three days or so. Crazy.

I seriously hope you guys do this.

Seriously, I'm not an AJ hater like many Yankees fans are. I think he does go out and try his best every start. But, you can't trust him. It's like letting a good friend help you with a project that you know they COULD do, but if they fucking up putting in one screw you know you're going to have to restart.

I updated the OP, too

Eating 22m is going to suck, but at least we wouldn't be paying the full amount. I REALLY hope AJ does well with the Pirates. He CAN be a good pitcher. However, it was clear that wasn't happening in NY.

Once the Pirates get a real owner, they'll be a storied franchise again. Plus, Roberto Clemente is one of the greatest people to ever live, let alone ball player.

Ok...since you asked...

Well, a big part of my problem is simply where I live now.  We just get Nationals and Orioles down here, so I don't get a lot of Pirates games on TV.  The other part is that I generally suspend my DirecTV service in the summer to save money since there are less things on TV in the summer I'm interested in.  But at least last year gave some hope.

Well, the Pirates could do a bit better this season. Considering the Braun suspension and Pujols and Fielder no longer being in the division.

I'd take Burnett if they get him for a decent price. At least the ownership is trying to do something. I think a move from high-pressure NY to a group of Pirates fans who'll love him right away would be a nice change. Plus the move from AL east to the NL central will be a help.

What's he gonna do, be worse than what we've had for 19 years?

Been thinking about D-Rob.

Last year was probably a career year for Houdini, but if he even pitches half as well as he did, his numbers would be...

2.16 ERA, 6.75K/9, 9.4BB/9 (which is pretty bad) ERA+ 205 (which is nut fucking high when 100 is average [yes, his ERA+ was 410 last season]).

mfw that's a reasonable line (other than the walk rate)
