After listening to Cosmic Egg again, I suddenly remembered why I LOVE this band. They sound like a great mix of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and have released two fantastic albums I'd reccomend to anyone.

Any other fans here?

I think I remember hearing that Mike Patton is a HUGE fan.

Indeed, and while I respect his musical talent, that video made me >:(

Cosmic Egg was/is a lot better than people gave/have-given it credit for.

I was a fan way back when their S/T came out. Haven't heard their newest one, though. I should get on that.

Who gives a shit what Mike Patton thinks? Seriously, you either like something or you don't.

'OMG, Mike Patton hates something, I better hate it too. lolololol.'

[/end rant]

*Note the above is not directed at anyone in particular, just venting.

I like their self-titled a lot better, though 'Cosmic Egg' isn't bad by any means. I haven't listened to it in a while, maybe I should see if my opinion's changed.

First album was quite excellent.  Haven't heard too much of Cosmic Egg to be honest.  Stockdale seems like a bit of a tool though.

saw them open up for Primus at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago. AMAZING show. they covered Baba Orielly and Riders on the Storm... along with a pretty chill set of there stuff. mind you i was going into this only knowing Woman (lol) and was blown away...
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

New songs at last! https://soundcloud.com/official-wolfmother

Edit: According to Wiki, this will be an Andrew Stockdale solo album. Not sure what will happen to Wolfmother.

Wolfmother pretty much became a Stockdale solo project anyway.

Yeah, I thought Wolfmother was done with and Stockdale was moving on as a solo artist. Might check it out later.

Anyone been listening to the new album yet? I didn't even realise they released a 3rd album in 2014!! I love their first album and kinda liked Cosmic Egg. Just been looking at upcoming gigs and noticed they are playing in Bristol in about 3 weeks so may get tickets.

Just wanted to know if many people have been spinning the new album and what initial opinions are? I'll still get it and form my own opinion regardless, just hoping it's a return to form for them.

I was really underwhelmed by it. Maybe I'm too hard on these guys, but the debut I thought had some pretty cool songs, but I didn't want to hear songs like Apple Tree ever again, because that one annoyed me to death. Then after they kind of reinvented their sound I changed my mind and thought they were becoming too one-dimensional.

It's hard with these kind of bands for me, rock can often fall flat, and the new Wolfmother album hit all the bad spots for me. They took no risks at all, trying to get a solid continuation of their sound I guess, but it just ended up being everything I hear in an average Wolfmother song, with no standouts. One of my least favorite 2016 albums I heard so far.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

I hear them everyday on Sydney radio, at least twice, to me they sound like poor modern version of Led Zeppelin.

^^^ That's not the worst thing in the world, you know.

If I like "By The Sword" from Slash's solo album (and I REALLY do) how much of Wolfmother will I like, do you think?

I'm giving the new album a spin (along with New Crown), I really loved their self titled when it came out but I think a lot of love I have for that album now is nostalgia and a love for a great time in my life.

I haven't got high expectations (which may be for the best) but I'm hoping to enjoy it enough to want to get a ticket to see them. Me and my friend Ginger Dave (who used to be obsessed with them and got me into them in the first place) will probably get tickets regardless and just get fucked up  :metal
