2012 is looking pretty sweet!

So many bands I love are going to release an album in 2012! Sigur Rós, Air, The xx, Mumford & Sons, Muse, The Beach Boys, ...

And probably a lot more not on that list!

You and me go parallel, together and apart

The one's I'm excited about: (Not all these have confirmed dates and such, but will most likely come out)

Storm Corrosion, Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Pendulum (?), Sigur Rós, Tool, The Pineapple Thief, The Tallest Man on Earth, The River Empires, Between the Buried and Me and Alcest. (might forget some)

Yeah it looks like it's shaping up to be pretty good. I don't know if it will beat this year, though. Looking forward to stuff by Between the Buried and Me, Mumford & Sons, Porcupine Tree, Coheed and Cambria, The Tallest Man on Earth, Sigur Ros, Anathema, Storm Corrosion, The Mars Volta, Soundgarden, and maybe even Avenged Sevenfold. :D

KISS, Van Halen, Crazy Lixx. Can't think of any others yet that I'm anticipating, but it's not even 2012 yet, so I'm sure there will be more to come.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

So freaking excited for the new BTBAM. The Parallax EP was a fantastic taste of what they have in store for the future. Can't wait.

Can't wait to hear the new Gojira.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

A lot of great releases in 2012. The ones I'm more excited for you ask? Storm Corrosion, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Gojira, The Tallest Man on Earth, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Massive Attack and Stolen Babies.

Rush, Spock's beard, Flying colors, Blaze Bayley, and we'll see what else. It's not gonna be as good as 2011, obviously.

I was just about to post how I wasn't looking forward to any of the albums on the list so far and I came to Blob's post.
I'll second those two choices and add Rush (hey, I can hope I guess but recent output does not give me great pause for optimism), a new Hardline and Jeff Scott Soto.

Gnarls Barkley, A Great Big Pile of Leaves (most likely).

I really REALLY hope the new Mumford & Sons doesn't disappoint. I don't even know why I think it will.

I get what you're saying though. Their first album had so much success that it's very easy to think that their next album won't be as good.

prog sucks

Also, possibly new work from The Flower Kings, as well as Hasse Froberg's Musical Companion is working on their 2nd album, and while there hasn't been much news from him, Tomas Bodin/Eggs & Dogs will eventually release the third part in Tomas' trilogy of I AM/YOU ARE/HE SHE IT IS.

Also, there will likely be a new Frost* album at some point, now that Jem has changed his mind!

On my list:
RUSH's Clockwork Angels
Storm Corrosion's debut album
OSI's 4th studio album
Flying Colors (Morse/Morse/Portnoy/LaRue/McPherson)
Spock's Beard's X Tour Live (At Downey, CA)
Spock's Beard's 11th studio album
The Flower Kings' 11th studio album
Marillion's 17th studio album
Tool's 5th studio album
Muse's 6th studio album

Didn't know about Porcupine Tree, Coheed & Cambria, or The Mars Volta, but it seems like they're due for new albums as well, so I'll probably check out the latter two, and DEFINITELY get new PT. That'll be right up there with Rush and SB.

I can also hope that Neal, Mike, Roine and Pete make time for the fourth Transatlantic album at some point in the coming months so we can get it by the fall of 2012!

-Marc.

Yeah, the first one is fantastic, but the second one was awful. So a third one could go either way, I guess.

(I honestly thought they were done with the project after that.)

Yeah, St Elsewhere is great, really unique. Fun, great beats, bizarre, creepy, kind of depressing, all at the same time.

The Odd Couple tried to be all of that again, and ended up being pretty much none of it. Neighbors was the best song by a mile.
