  • and that is the truth.
This would include vocal, song writing, a instrumental abilities.

I think I'd go for Dustin Kensrue, the singer from Thrice. He writes fantastic lyrics, plays pretty good guitar, has a pretty versatile voice and is one of the driving forces behind a very talented, and musically diverse band. I could definitely do everything I could ever want to do musically with his abilities.

Close second would be Casey Crescendo from The Dear Hunter.

inb4 Steven Wilson or Devin Townsend.

That said, I would pick one of those, Jordan Rudess being a close third.

I would happily rip out Michael Matijevic's (Steelheart) voicebox if I thought I could somehow graft it into myself. Or stealing Jordan Rudess' wizardly abilities would also be dandy.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Paul McCartney's songwriting, or Brian Wilson's arranging skills.

Thinking as to how it could benefit me right now, better guitar playing ability wouldn't be of as good a use to me.  I can handle that fairly well.  I'd have to go with someone's voice.  I want Joe Lynn Turner's voice.  Or David Coverdale's.  Tough call.

Nice choices... I wouldn't mind having their voices, either...  Or Stu Block's, Ripper's or Barlow's.... Matt Smith's (Theocracy) or Jon Oliva's (Savatage)...
But I'd never steal James LaBrie's voice!!! ... as I wouldn't be able to find another lesser God to be the biggest fangirl of!

I want Geddy Lee's bass playing and ability to write amazing songs and bass lines.

And ability to play dem bass lines while singing.

My choices:

Neal Morse (solid musician no matter the rock instrument)
Jordan Rudess (I have fallen in love with playing keyboards, so)
Dustin Kensrue (see OP)
Geddy Lee (see SDN)
Casey Crescendo (ability to write catchy songs with beautiful melodic music)

Chuck Schuldiner. He has the best balance of all I look for in the music I enjoy most: intensity, intelligence, melody, heaviness, and well-keeled perspective.

Devin Townsend, but for the same reasons listed above.

Gavin Harrison or Portnoy (as cliche as it sounds). I admire a lot in their drumming and personalities and passion for music. I would love to play drums like them

Alex Lifeson.  The man can emote when it comes to solos.  Whether it's one note of a blaze of 50.  Also no one textures like him at all.  I just love his rhythm chords and structures.

I'd be perfectly happy to have a fairly ordinary everyman voice and be able to carry a tune.

A voice like Bob Marley's, or Eddie Vedder's, or Stevie Ray Vaughan's.

Easily the Professor.  I can name plenty of better drummers,  but none that I enjoy listening to more.  If I could just chill in my living room and do what he does,  I'd be a damned happy camper.

Aside from the whole musical thing,  the ability to ride a motorcycle all over the world is also damned appealing to me.
