OhioProg announces the addition of Glass Hammer and Kinetic Element to the OhioProg 2012 festival line-up.

Glass Hammer is a symphonic-progressive rock band from the USA. Multi-instrumentalists Steve Babb and Fred Schendel formed the band in 1992 and will be celebrating their 20th anniversary at OhioProg 2012. The band recently released their 14th studio album Cor Cordium which is a follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed If. Glass Hammer is certainly one of the most well-known and highly regarded progressive rock acts over the last 20 years and will be featured as a headliner alongside FM, Nightingale and Arena. They will play ahead of FM on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

You can listen to two tracks from Glass Hammer on the OhioProg Soundcloud and/or the Glass Hammer artist page. "Nothing Box" from their latest Cor Cordium and "If the Stars" from last year's If.

Kinetic Element hail from Richmond, Virginia and released their debut album Powered by Light in 2009. The band formed as an outlet to perform the solo material of composer and keyboard player Mike Visaggio. The group quickly created their own identity and began playing alongside some of today's foremost progressive rock acts including Circa and IZZ. Kinetic Element will perform in the first slot on Sunday, September 9, 2012. The Kinetic Element artist page will be updated with audio tracks soon.

Kinetic Element are still around? Holy hell. I remember getting a friend request from them years ago on MySpace and liking what I heard, but I never got around to listening to Powered By Light.

And Glass Hammer is a band I listen to too, so hooray for relevance.
Hire me. I'm talentless but malleable.

We are excited about these additions, especially with Glass Hammer celebrating their 20th anniversary at the fest. Folks will be in for quite a show. Are you planning on attending, Nel?

I'd be willing to go to rediculous lengths to see Arena, Script for a Jester's Tour, and Gende's Giant...but I just don't know where I'll be at that time.  I think your biggest problem is time and location.  It's almost always easier for people to get time off in the summer for some reason, and eastern Ohio isn't exactly a population center.  NEARfest and RoSfest are within striking distance of NYC, Philly, and Baltimore/DC.  Canton is near Cleveland and Pittsburgh - two rock n' roll cities - but they have a fraction of the people.

If I'm within 3 or 4 hours, I'll be there; but I can't commit to it because I have no idea where I'm going to land a job.

Appreciate your interest DTVT. As mentioned, if enough tickets aren't sold by January 2, 2012 the fest will be canceled. Hope that something works out for you by that date so you can get in, pledge your ticket and help ensure it doesn't get canceled. It will prove to be a great weekend of music, fun and friends.

That is their promo pic?! They look like a couple of hobby ornithologists who found a camera in the woods.

Man, I would loved this festival to get going,  for the sake of potentially playing at it myself one day, but man...

Thanks for your interest...hope you'll get in there and pledge your ticket and attend. We'd like to make it an annual event however that depends on getting the inaugural year off the ground.

Cheers!
