3. Ulver - Blood InsideUlver is the main reason why I decided to go for the "1 album per artist" rule. Otherwise, those guys would've took like half the spots in this list.
Blood Inside is the one I prefer but not by much.
Shadows of the Sun or
Perdition City are also among my favorites so the choice certainly wasn't easy! Ulver, as some of you know, started as a black metal band. After a couple of albums they just said "fuck that" and went all over the place. Trip-hop, ambient, avant-garde, art rock... you name it. What I love about them is that their music is genre-blending, dark and so constant it's not even funny. So yeah, one of the best band around today, easily.
But enough about the band; Let's talk about the record! The album is bombastic, out-there and very dense. It's also quite a mix of different genres including rock, baroque, jazz and electronica. I think it's a must-have for any music lover, really.
