So I've been getting into music much more over the last year, its been rising exponentially and over time I began understanding what's going on behind the scenes and what the instruments are doing in songs.
I've noticed that a lot of drummers (Gavin Harrison especially) occasionally do this cool little fill that almost sounds like they're slowing down the pace of the music. Say if the time sig is 4/4, they do a little fill with 3 notes that don't seem to fit the 4 even steps of the bar. I'm not an expert in music, but I think its simply a triplet done quite slowly which gives the music this cool effect. I heard it done a bit more complex in some songs, and I'd like to know the actual mathematics behind this to see if I'm not making up rubbish
Anyone have an explanation?
