TURN IT ON AGAIN.
.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Mogwai: How to be a werewolf
Dream Theater: The Count of Tuscany
Anathema: Release
Circus Maximus: Ultimate Sacrifice
and
Long Distance Calling: Metulsky Curse Revisited
I am a Survivor, and this is my Destiny.

Lonestar, you set the bar really fucking high with that first post.  One of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs.

Well in my defense, the thread title isn't 'Pretty Good Songs".  ;)

After I started this thread, I did some poking around, and I'm sure many of you have seen this, but I'll post it anyways, the perfect live performance of the song in the OP, Come Talk to Me...

Almost brought me to tears, so awesome.

H.I.M. - The Sacrament
Radiohead - There, There (The Boney King of Nowhere)
Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways; And The Swallows Dance Above The Sun
Gorillaz - Happy Landfill; Detroit; Rhinestone Eyes
Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons; Surrounded
Opeth - Dirge For November; Patterns In The Ivy II; April Ethereal; Madrigal/The Amen Corner (I have literally never listened to these two separately..they're one to me, it's too perfect a transition)

There are so many more, especially by PT, Opeth and Gorillaz. But I'm gonna drink some more soooo... BBL.

One of my picks would be Journey's "Lights".  Simply amazing song.  Steve Perry's voice is awesome.  Fantastic vocal harmonies.  So you're hearing the first part and Perry sounds great, then the band comes in big and loud and Perry says "You haven't heard anything yet" and just fuckin' belts.  Then a very excellent and memorable guitar solo.  The dynamics are wonderful, alternating between soft and laid back and big and bold.  This song never fails to make me feel good inside.

I don't really know how to define a perfect song haha but I have one song that definitely sits there for me and that would be Octavarium by Dream Theater.

After that, I feel like a perfect song is one that I just really think is perfectly written, performed and produced that I will always enjoy listening to any time.  I have probably quite a few songs that fit this category.

Lie to Me - Johnny Lang,  I don't know what it is about this song, but it's just great to listen to.
Time is Your Friend - Dada, thanks to Kingsy I discovered this song and it's just amazing.  One of the best choruses ever.
Deadhead - Devin Townsed, just an incredibly well written and performed song.  The vocals are very moving.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head right this second.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

Anathema - Everything

Raven introduced me to this song recently and I just can't get enough of it.

Damn, I have been meaning to get into Anathema for a while and they never really clicked with me.

UNTIL NOW.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about "The Canyon Behind Her" by dredg, what a phenomenal song. Beautiful buildup and climax especially when taking the album into context.

This. There's always something that could be improved afaik.

nonetheless, my picks for near perfect would be:
Dream Theater - Learning to Live, Trial of Tears
Steely Dan - Home At Last
Porcupine Tree - Trains
Dave Brubeck - Blue Rondo
