Oh, making a character is fun, and I know the race/name I'd go with, but I'd be redoing so much...

Heh, it seems I completely overlooked the difficulty thing. Do you think it would be best to take a current game and crank the difficulty, or should I just start over with a nice high difficulty?

~Pines of Whiterun (super cool trees in whiterun)
~Glass armor retexture
~Realistic water textures (AMAZING)
~Arrowsmith
~SkyUI
~Midas Magic
~Magic Arrows
~Various other retextures, leaves, snowflakes, etc.

There might be a couple more I can't think of, but I don't really want to switch to my windows partition right now.

There's a difficulty setting?

If it's anything like Oblivion's then all that changed is the amount of health enemies have.

My difficulty is on normal. I've made the game harder on myself by switching to light armor and weaker weapons. When I use heavy armor I am pretty much unstoppable.

Plus the Nightingale armor is sickkkk

I eventually stopped wearing armor of any kind, with the exception of any piece that boosted archery. I didn't see the need to weigh myself down.

I started over and maxed out the difficulty.

One of my favorite Flyers is Kimmo Timonen, so I made a High Elf named Kimmo Dragonen.

This is something that's always bothered me about Elderscrolls games. They are way too easy even on a higher difficulty setting.

I suck at video games so being easy is all good for me!  I like being dominant.  In Morrowind the only cat around who could hang with my guy at like lvl 54 or so was Vivec.  Felt good man.

Ran into one hell of a glitch. Snuck up on a dragon and it just took my abuse. Then when I left it followed me and just flew around in circles. After a while the game started lagging like a mother fucker. Fuckin' dragon. Now I have to load it from before I "killed it". I got some experience from that bitch too.

I never bought filled soul gems anyways. Huge waste of cash

I've found all of the filled soul gems I have in dungeons and stuff, haven't had to buy one yet.  Course, I'm still only Level 15 so...

Haven't changed the difficulty from Normal--I'm more of a casual gamer, but it's not THAT hard either.  Just reminds me of my D&D days, is all.

Hope to play some more, as I have a nice long weekend. :caffeine:

I got the game guide for a birthday present. Data overload. It's amazing. everything you can imagine about the game is in there. Plus I could probably use it to kill a dragon...

I love how fucking dark it is. Sneaking is easier, but it's still hard as fuck to see. I actually USE torches and that spell that lights up.

I've decided a new character I'll make will be a Thalmor spy.  High elf, trained in Illusion mostly, with a good amount of destruction and sneak thrown in, and a tiny bit of one-handed in case magicka is getting low.  He'll join the Stormcloaks just to weaken the empire.  He'll also sneak around, silently casting frenzy spells and use destruction to clean up the mess.  Sounds like a fun idea, what do you guys think?

What's the best ways to use things like Frenzy and Fear? Just hit guys with them when you're getting weak? Or do you sneak up and use them on people so they attack their allies? Never really touched them much.

I dunno, but the second option sounds more fun.

That last one, yeah. Just make sure to get the perks in the illusion tree that make your spells work on higher level opponents, and you can clear whole bandit camps just by using illusion.

I tried it out last night. I was on the (apparently) Daedric quest of drunken retrace which I'm referring to as the Hangover quest, and when I got inside the temple with a shit ton of mages I picked them off one at a time and watched the others hack into them.

And having a staff to summon Daedra at an early point in the game is fucking ace.

So choosing between Stormcloaks and Imperials is pretty much the first time I actually had to stop and think about a choice I was making in an RPG. This game is awesome.

Which did you guys mostly choose?

I went with the Imperials because General Tullius is voiced by Michael Hogan.
Joe and I in the same squad is basically the virtual equivalent of us plowing a rape van through an elementary school playground at recess.

I'm going to go with the Stormcloaks with my current High Elf (even though that makes little sense given the Thalmor are high elves), because if I go back to my other character who is an Imperial I'll side with the Imperials with him.

If you wanted you could role-play it as your high elf being a double agent. You're helping the Stormcloaks so that once the Thalmor decide to start kicking everyone's ass Skyrim isn't united under a single banner (the Empire) and has less of a chance of fighting them off.

That's what I'm doing with my high elf.  I'm RPing him as a Thalmor spy so anything that weakens the Empire is good by him.
