Yeah, they're all wide and the analog sticks are up here and over there, and they aren't PS3 controllers that I'm used to. So they suck. I like the Playstation controller set up. Come at me, bro.
I've owned a 360 for barely shorter than a PS3. I play both frequently, and I agree the 360 controllers are horrible.

Looks like they announced the 1.4 patch yesterday!

https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1300559-skyrim-what-were-working-on/ (last post)

Really hope it does fix the ps3 lagging issue, and it's nice to see they're correcting some of the broken quests as well.

It was discussed at the latest PTA meeting. Swords are now allowed. Trust me.

How did you get both fire and lightning? Must be a higher skill level thing right? I haven't been building up my enchanting. Been focusing on sneak (which is at 100) and archery mostly.

Yeah, Enchating 100 gives you the extra effect perk.

That's good news.  Even though my save files are nowhere near where the problem is, it does get laggy loading landscape in the distance more often the more leveling up I do.

Also wanted to post that I FINALLY defeated the Frost Troll before High Hrothgar--found a convenient ledge above where the troll was appearing, and he'd gotten stuck just underneath it but I had enough room to pelt him with arrow after arrow and fire roasted his ass once I'd gotten him down to near nothing HP-wise.  YES!!!

I'm now at Level 9, and I'm in Dawnstar trying to attempt the Waking Nightmare quest.  The three Frostbite Spiders in wait at the tower entrance are kicking my ass & the dude who I accepted the quest from.  I accidentally killed my follower from Riverwood while in the Shroud Hearth Barrow, so I may need to go back to Windhelm or Whiterun to find Lydia (puke).

I can only play on the weekends thanks to work, but I'm loving how combat is getting so much easier.

360 > PS3

I've hated the PS controller since the PS2 and my opinion has not changed since.

Ok guys, I think I'm going to buy Skyrim today. But here is the big question.

I know people generally prefer to play on the PC BUT, is it worth the mods considering the following:

On my PC I have a 15" monitor and crappy speakers.
To my PS3 I have a 40" TV and excellent surround sound.

obviously on the console
I'd never get it on the PC, solely due to distraction factor when I'm at school or w/e

buuuuuuuuuuuut if you REALLY want mods, then go with the PC. although I've never seen the need to make mods for Oblivion or Skyrim, since they both have numerous ways to cheat/break the game

the only thing to consider is if your pc can play it well. if yes, get it for pc. a 40 inch tv running skyrim at 1280x720 isn't going to look as good as your 15 inch monitor running it at native res.

Low settings on PC still look just as good as console graphics on a big-screen TV.

I did it because I like the combo of warrior and mage, and only Imperials and Redguards seemed to have that particular combo. And the former had better perks from what I was reading.

... only Imperials and Redguards?
You can play any playstyle with any race. starting levels are really unimportant

I was a warrior turned warrior/mage turned warrior/archer turned mage turned warrior/mage with a Nord, and I'm fairly certain they don't start off with good magic/archery levels

My first character was a combo of warrior and mage, and I guess I didn't know how to work it, because I ended up starting a new character in frustration.  :lol

I wanted to become a thief from the start, but then I started using the bow and really liking it so I guess I'm a thief/archer combo guy thing.

Beat Alduin the other day.  That was really cool.  Now I'm gonna go through the Dark Brotherhood quests and kill Ulfric Stormcloak (since he's kinda a douche to non-Nords from what I hear.  My Khajiit doesn't take kindly to that).

I never said it did. It's a kick ass combo, especially when infiltrating dungeons and caves.
