Yeah, I actually miss some of what Oblivion had to offer. I really think a lot of Skyrim's environments are bland, too. But I do love the game so I won't complain anymore.

Still, given the choice between this year's two bethesda games (NV and Skyrim), I think I've got no choice but to go with the former.

Do you know what I don't miss about Oblivion? Watching the grass render 5 feet in front of me.

I can't say there's much from Oblivion that I miss. The actual terrain in Skyrim can get kinda bland, but the dungeon design is the best in the series so far, both from a technical and visual perspective.

Oblivion is far more bland than Skyrim.

Except, NV wasn't released this year and wasn't developed by Bethesda.

Skyrim is the first game in a while that gets my heart pumping. I find myself jumping in my chair quite often. When I am hiking and hear a saber tooth but can't find it, I feel my heart rate increasing. I find myself creeping around the ruins and under ground structures in suspense, just like I would while watching a scary movie.

I read earlier at patches for all systems were released this morning. Why didn't I get an update prompt on my PS3?

Anyone else spending way too much time doing miscellaneous quests, side quests, and pretty much everything else aside from the main story quests?

Is there any benefit of increasing stamina other than increased running distance and powerful sword, mace, etc attacks?

Blocking. So much more effective blocking can be done in combat when you have a high stamina.

The patch might have been submitted to Sony, but generally patches aren't sent out until Thursdays unless there is a major problem to be fixed.

Also increases your carry weight.

You can also give/take more attacks and freezing without having to worry about being knocked down/instakilled, as low stamina is the controlling factor in that.

Well, a friend of mine already downloaded that PS3 patch and Bethesda posted on their blog that the PS3 one was live.

I don't use a shield, do I still block things?

Even if you use one or two handed weapons, parrying increases your Block Skill.  The right side of the Block constellation has bash and power bash perks that work for both shields and weapon blocks.  However, if you have a second weapon or spell in your left hand, you won't be able to block at all.

Using a bow for bashing can actually be quite effective.  It can sometimes stagger the enemy and give you a chance for another strike before they hit you.

That usually my tactic. I bash them, shout at them, fire a shot off, then run in with dual flames.
