SKYRIM!!!

I'm having a glitch with becoming the thane of Winterhold. I've retrieved the helmet of Winterhold for him, and he said he would make me a thane if I help the people. Have a misc quest saying "Help 3 citizens of Winterhold" that I am trying to do.

I am currently at 2/3. I got 1 for helping the inn collect a guy's tab, a second one for stealing a staff for a dark elf. The third quest appears to be determining what became of a local's lost love. I've determined her fate and completed that quest, yet I am still only at 2/3. There don't appear to be any other quests for Winterhold.

This is regarding Isabelle, right?  Did you return the note to Ranmir?  Unfortunately, those are the only three available tasks for becoming the thane.

Yeah, I returned to Ranmir and I just says something like "Leave me alone, I have some thinking to do."

Now, I never actually got a QUEST to find Isabelle, I just found her...

Edit: I just went and talked to the Jarl again, now he's sent me on a quest to re-recover the Helm of Winterhold from a different dungeon.

Isn't it technically two? The one where you go to find an Elder Scroll and finding all 30 Crimson Nirnroot.

Also, there's a dragon down there.

If you came down to Blackreach from Alftand Cathedral it should be inside the building right in front of you. It's called Sinderion's Field Laboratory (or something like that) and inside you'll find Sinderion's Field Journal and the quest will begin.

It's not inside any building but I don't know how to direct you to it. I was pretty lost down there.

When you were escaping the dragon attack, there was someone with you going through the caves and stuff. It's talking about that person.

And what the hell did you do to get the town to attack you, they don't just do that for no reason

I was following Hadvar. After we escaped some tunnels he said he thought we should split up, but told me to find the blacksmith and say that he sent me. I did nothing to the town, my first time approaching I was slaughtered. Happens every time I go back

I ended up just walking around the town and kept going forward. I  eventually talked to some people and ended up completed the quest, lol. I just found the dragon stone. I am loving the shit out of this game, but now I have to go to work for 10 hours

Right after I dealt with Kematu in In My Time Of Need, there was a dragon. First time, took forever to land and I died facing it. Reloaded. This time, it was an ice dragon, rather than fire. Found a mammoth first and started taking on that. So basically, the mammoth tanked for me. Those things can take a looot of damage.

Ok so now that I've finished Mass Effect 2 I'm starting to get into this game. Haven't got too far but enjoying exploring the local area and getting to grips with how the game works. I was feeling unimaginative when I started so my character is an Imperial called Ziltoid.

So on my way to the Golden Claw quest, I stumbled upon some old woman's house. She seemed sweet enough so I decided I wasn't going to steal anything, but I did have a wonder inside her place, read a book she had on alchemy but didn't take it, and went down into the cellar to find her alchemy and enchanment tables. Again I didn't steal anything.

Come back up and the bitch starts trying to kill me with magic. So I kill her and steal EVERYTHING SHE HAD. Nobody fucks with the Ziltoid.

I think I know which house you are talking about, I discovered it as well when I came out of the cave, went down the mountain and were going back to Riverwood.
She was quite friendly indeed, felt a bit sorry for her for not having any real valuables in her house (and for living alone), but still.. always fun to find those "hidden" places that not everyone has explored.

If you look in her basement, you'll see there is a diary explaining that she is a witch(which I guess makes her evil?). That's why she attacks you.

So I went into the ruins in Ivarstad with the sapphire claw to get that shout. First, found a door with a master lock. Got it in two tires (my lockpicking is about 22 or so, maybe a little less. INside, a chest at expert. Almost got it several times, ended up losing a lot of picks before i gave up. So i go the other way. the door locks behind me, key only and the door ahead of me is master. Waste all my picks on it and get no where, though I got close. So I was stuck. Had to reload autosave. Rather annoying.

So now I'm saving up gold go get a house to keep my shit. I have things I dond't want to lose and I'm running out of carry weight.

Question about a problem in the main quest...

How do you get into the College of Winterhold (you know why) without trying to join?  I really don't want to join with this character but so far I've found that seems the only way of actually getting in...

You have to join but you don't have to do any quests, just start the one where the chick escorts you to the college and run up to the guy you have to speak with.

The books are great.  I never used to read them in Oblivion but I've read loads in Skyrim - useful for finding out more about the lore and some great stories in there too.  My inventory space suffers from the library I carry around on my back.  Skyrim, y u no have kindle
