Another newb-question for those who have gotten further in the game, I've finally arrived in Riften, and I did the quest to go down and find Esbern, now I'm supposed to escort him to Riverwood.
Is there an easy way to do it? Cause I honestly cba to run that distance, would probably take 2 hours or something.  :lol
There's probably an easy option I've missed, if so.. what? :)
Yes, fast travel there.

Quote
I have yet to do a single thing in Skyrim in the proper order. I'm constantly showing up to some dude's castle that I've never seen before, only to hand over a mystical item that I'd mentally scratched off as garbage hours ago, and then sit and listen to the story be retroactively explained to me:

King: Wanderer! Thank the gods you've come! The prophecy told us that a mighty warrior would arise, worthy of wielding Fjalnir, the God-axe, and slaying the evil Demon Prince Synraith. We believe you to be that warrior. What say you, traveler? Will you accept this task?

Me: Yea, verily I shall accept thine task and vanq- wait, Synraith? Fiery dude in a floating city? Cape made out of screeching souls? Ahhh, shit. I already killed that guy.

King: You ... already slew the Demon Prince, the Knife in the Dark, the Void at the Heart of All Men, whose identity you did not learn until just now?

Me: Yup. I saw that castle floating up in the sky, and I wanted to know if I could jump up the rocks to get in the back way. It took a lot of reloads, but I finally managed to hop on up in there.

King: You "hopped on up" into the Abyssal Palace?

Me: Yeeeep, yep yep yep. Just squat-jumped on in there and looted the place. Then I killed that Sydney guy-

King: Synraith, Demon Prince of the Abyss.

Me: -yeah him. I ganked that guy. Mostly just to see if I could. Plus he looked like kind of a dick.

King: Indeed, the Foulest of the Foul was "kind of a dick." But you vanquished him without the aid of sacred Fjalnir, the God-axe?

Me: Totally. It wasn't even a thing. I just hid on top of a bookshelf where he couldn't reach me and shot him with arrows. Then I waited until he forgot I was shooting him, and did it all again to get the sneak damage bonus. Took a while, but he died all the same.

King: Forsooth! Thine heroic deeds are ... well, that sounds kind of fucked up, actually. Never thought I'd feel bad for He Who Devours. So you have no need of our sacred totem weapon?

Me: What, the gold dealy, with the shiny bits? Nah, I already stole that out of the display case four hours ago, before I knew who you were. I gave it to Sven, but he Quantum Leaped out of the game with that shit.

King: Huh. So. I guess ... the bards will ... sing of your tale now?

Me: Oh yeah? Sweet, let's hear it.

Bard: The hero came with eyes aflame / his tasks already done / the land was rescued all the same / but 'tis kind of a shitty song.

Me: Word.

The way I do it is open up the quest menu, hover over the quest, press "M" for show on map and then I click the location to fast travel there. TIME SAVER!

This saves SO much time!
I've avoided going back up the mountain to hand in the horn-item, but now I finally can without having to go the 7000 steps up!

:caffeine:

One question though, what's up with the horse carriage-ride then?
Why pay for the instant trip if I can do it for free? :P

Also, man.. Esbern is completely bugged, had to download some program so that I could extract the sound files or something.

You can't fast travel to places you haven't found yet so using the carriage is a fast way to get into cities.

How many Daedric Prince quests has everyone found/completed?

I've completed Sheogorath's quest and Malacath's quest, I have found the quests for Clavicus Vile, Molag Bal, and Meridia.

...my name is Araragi.

Found and completed Meridia's one. I'm actually right next to Azura's shrine right now, but I'm on my way to Winterhold.

Sounds good already! I would say to try to work in the vocal melody "DOVAKHIIN DOVAKHIIN" at some point would be cool.

Maybe I'll do a few songs, lol. I was trying to do one with that lady who sings "The Dragonborn Comes"

Ok so, another stupid question about the My Time of Need quest. I decided to side with the girl and not turn her in. Went to the jail cell and talked to the captive assassin. Said if I could get him out of jail, he'd help me. So, I paid his fine to the guard that was right there. But he's still in the cell. They've made no move to unlock him, I can't unlock the cell. I'm a little confused.

Sooo I said fuck it for now and now I'm on to The Throat Of The World to learn more about The Voice.

You don't need him out of the cell, you just needed information from him.  Just talk to him and tell him you've paid the fine and he'll tell you where to go.

Doesn't give me that option. He just says "get me out of here, until then I have nothing to say to you." Or something of the sort.

This is just my opinion, but I think this game's interface is really, well, shit for PC. Using a 360 controller solves that problem, but it's something to consider. Also, the mouse movement just feels terrible -- I'm not sure if it's due to mouse acceleration or something like that but it felt like crap to me.

Protip: disable the Xbox 360 controller option in the settings

Protip 2: Open SkyrimPrefs.ini and set bMouseAcceleration=0

I just downloaded Large Address Aware, which makes it so Skyrim can utilize more than 2GB of ram.  I think that is the key to removing the mouse lag, because it's much smoother now, at least on my system.  Also, the extremely annoying and disorienting micro-stutter I got in first-person view, despite high FPS, is mostly gone.

https://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=202

OH SWEET MOTHER OF GOD  :hefdaddy to both of you.  I got 6 gigs of RAM on my PC; didn't realize that there was a limit set on Skyrim.

Followed those steps and now I play smoothly on Ultra settings!  I was literally just standing next to a river amazed by the graphics of the water and the reflections on it.

Ah, ok, I think I figured it out.  Did you get Saadia to tell you about Kematu?  If not, he won't say anything.  Other than that, you just needed to pay the guard and then talk to him after.

I have around 18-19 hours, but didn't start until Monday, so lost some days. ;)

Killed 4 dragons now, had some nice progress, found that weird kid in Windhelm who starts the Dark Brotherhood-chain, seems a bit interesting, and I've heard that one of their quests gives nice rewards (?) so maybe worth doing.
I must say, the quest involving The Butcher is one of the funniest and most interesting I've done, easily my favorite in the game so far, though I'm a bit stuck.
Gonna put the next part in small text, don't want to spoil it for those who haven't done it, because it's a crime mystery that you have to solve, but those who have done it, maybe give me some help? :)

Anyhow, I did everything up until the mage got thrown in prison, obviously the wrong npc.
I know who the npc is, I've even lockpicked the chest in his house, so I have that journal, I've read that there should be a second event so that I can finish the chain, but I've run around the city during nighttime a few nights in a row without anything happening, so my question, is it like the first event, that it requires me to do X amount of things before it becomes available?
The reason I'm so "into" it, is that I really really want to buy the house in Windhelm, cause I think the whole hidden room-thing is a cool thing to have in a house, but I guess I can't buy it until I finish this quest.
Any help?
I also screwed around in the console a bit (which I shouldn't have done!) but hopefully it has not affected anything, the killer is still walking around, and nothing really changed.
