I went with Wood Elf as an archer/stealth character.  Working really well.

Same. This playthrough is more or less a stealth wood-elf who steals EVERYTHING and doesn't give a fuck about one faction for too long.

So I'm hearing so much praise for this game and its predecesors, if I was going to start playing this series what game should I start with?

Just start with Skyrim, the stories are self-contained and everything.

I've killed three so far, none of them took 30 minutes, but one fight was like 15.

Are some dragons more powerful than others?

I've killed two dragons during quests, and one dragon randomly out in the world.

And I've also run like a little bitch from one dragon.

I die multiple times because I have no armor (robes only).  I'm considering buying the hardcover strategy guide tomorrow.  There's just SOOO much content and while I love the exploration, I'd really like having a reference, especially since it's too early for a comprehensive wiki.

IGN has a wiki guide up, that is not remotely close to being comprehensive or complete, but still gives you a guide for the main quest and some of the other bigger questlines (Companions, Thieve's Guilds, Dark Brotherhood, College of Winterhold, etc).

And as for the dragons, I've killed 4-5 of them. Two being from the main quest line and one that was given to me as a Miscellaneous quest (who is at Skyborn Altar protecting a Word Wall).

I like having a book so I don't have to alt-tab out of the game all the time.  Plus, I can get the collector's guide for $30 instead of $40.

I've killed 2 dragons, only 1 from the main quest.  It was a lot harder the second time around.

The Dark Brotherhood quest line is pretty interesting this time around.

Also, I've been playing the game with 1st person when in combat and in towns and 3rd person while exploring

I don't know why, but I literally lol'd.  I like the feel of a real book though, especially one as well put together as this one.

Four dragons plus the one in the quest and counting. It requires a shitload of potions if you're running solo as a warrior type, but when you have a companion: Just wait until the dragon turns to him/her and smash it's side.

R.I.P Lydia
Lydia can suck my dick. She won't ever leave my house in Whiterun when I don't have her following me around. Which is never. Because I am a loner and hate when people tag along and jump in front of my Frost Breathe shout and get all "WTF WHY U HURT ME DRAGONBORN I H8 U NOW" and I'm like "BITCH DON'T JUMP IN FRONT OF MY STUFF K?"

In other news, I love this game so fucking hard.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I actually spend most of my time in third person. I only switch to first if I'm in a confined area like a cave or house.

Mmmm Lydia.  Dat pixelated ass.  Only follower I've had so far and I'm a little disappointed with the total lack of depth she has.  Would be nice to have some character related quests or at least in depth conversation options and more random lines in world like New Vegas.  Hopefully this is the case with other followers!

Also, does anyone else use the physical map that came with the game?  I've been using it more than the in game map, it's actually a lot of fun  :hat

Speaking of which, do you have to get any sort of special collector's edition for that or does it come with retail? Because apparently my little brother back at home bought the game without my knowing. :lol

It comes with all normal copies of the game :tup

I put mine up on the wall and I occasionally glance at it when playing when I don't feel like messing around with the 3D map ingame.

Yes, yes it is. A dead one apparently, since I could loot it (it wasn't carrying anything, this was a poor horse).

I literally lol'd at how after finishing that quest, my view was positioned so that as soon as I was done talking to the guy and returning the claw, I was immediately given the option to Press E to Steal Golden Claw.

As far as I can see there isn't any persuasion game at all.

My girlfriend getting called to work 5 minutes before I left for her place yesterday was the best thing that happened to me...I thought I played Skyrim for 5 hours, turned out it was 10 hours.  I played until 5 am and then played more in my dreams.

It probably doesn't even matter a heck of a lot, but Brenton for healing, Dark Elf for destruction, and High-Elf for the other stuff.
