Skyward Sword is way awesomer

*runs really really fast*

Let's wait to judge until SS is actually out in the public, not just the official game reviewers. :orly:
Maybe I'm just sad that my computer can't come close to handling Skyrim :(.

Does Skyrim has sky high requirements for a computer?
I don't have the strongest gaming-computer, but I'm a bit interested in the game. :P

I suck at system requirements / "what I have VS what I can run" and all that, but to simplify, here are some of my speccs, and maybe you guys could tell me if it's good enough or not. :P

Intel Core i3-2105 3.10 GHz (dualcore)
4 GB RAM
MSI GeForce GTX 460 1024MB
Got Windows 7 as well

Holy fuck. I go out, buy the game, pop it into the PC, and I have to download STEAM and wait for steam to decide it's out in my area before I can install it? That's so fucking stupid. What if I didn't have internet access?

Then you'd be SOL.  The box says internet connection and a Steam account is required to activate.

In other news, this game is AWESOME.  I'm doing an even mix of main story and side quests and just defeated my first dragon.   :D

How are you guys already playing it? It keeps telling me that I need to wait for it to be released. Did it not come out on the 11th?

So, why is it downloading the game from Steam. Can I not install it from the disc?

It installed through Steam for me, but said it was reading off the disk, so it only took about 10 minutes to install.  It downloaded a 177MB patch after that.  Not sure why it's not activating for you, it's the 11th almost everywhere now.

I *think* it's the 11th, but according to many actual stores here it's the 12... so, I dunno. The guy sold it to me, but it was at 8pm today (on the 11th) and the game was not on shelves yet... I saw it in a box and asked him for it.

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find "official" release date info in HK... lol.

Yeah, that's what it says in the Steam store, too. Damn.

Oh well. I guess I just waste an hour on showing and playing LOTR online then.

I'm still pondering if I should just run through the main quest first and then do whatever it pleases me or mixed it up.

going to be complete honest and say that I've never played an Elder Scrolls game. What's all the hype about/what actually happens within the game and should I be buying it? :D

Check online videos, but they won't do it justice.  Buy the game and bask in its awesomeness.

I haven't bumped into any werewolves yet. How does the transformation work? Once a day, every night or what?

So here I was walking on the plains on my way to Rorikstead when some bandits are attacking a Giant. Giant hits the bandit with the hammer and the bandit, LITERALLY, went flying to space! :lol :lol

Ended up playing it for 16+ hours at my bubby's house directly after the midnight release. Then I decided to take a break and come home.

And now I'm playing it once again. God damn.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I don't have it yet, but my brother does, so I was at his place playing it for a while. Got to level 4. I encountered a giant, and based on the gameplay videos I saw it seemed like giants wouldn't mess with you if you don't mess with their mammoths, so I walked past him. He promptly stepped on me and sent me flying like 400 feet into the air  :rollin

Haha, I've only been pummeled into the ground.  I'm doing pretty well as a sneaking archer, and am able to kill the average enemy with 1 or 2 hits.  I'm trying to get access to more powerful spells though so I can be more effective against larger groups.  I have a lot of spells but they're all novice, and none work better than dual casting fire.

So generally speaking, are we all finding melee not fun or are people just not choosing melee-based classes?

A little of both, but I wouldn't say that melee isn't fun, only that it's more visually stimulating to see magic whirling around and the feeling of satisfaction after nailing a guy with an arrow from 100m out.  I did conjure a sword once and it had a nice "finishing move" which I expect is more common if you're a melee character.

In Oblivion, I was a pretty boring roleplayer: always chose Imperial male, and almost always stuck with melee as my primary while honing some magic on the side. It was only recently I decided to attempt making a more generally well-rounded character. I may experiment a little more with Skyrim but there's a chance I'll just go Nord. I might toy with class a bit though.

I only played a few hours of Oblivion but that was my character exactly!  I did try archery in Oblivion though and it was pretty clunky.  It's MUCH better in Skyrim.

The thing about the melee combat, so far I noticed, is that this time around you need to be more careful with how you attack. Sometimes it just comes down to hack and slash, but often times (while playing on the Adept difficulty) I found myself dying to one fuckin' boss/mini boss character who beats the shit out of me harder.

It's not necessarily the best combat system in the world, but I think that's part of the point. Plus, once you get the hang of using a short sword and shield combo, the melee combat kicks so much ass.

Picked it up on the X-Box today after work. I'm playing a Dunmer that is focused on sneaking around and stabbing things with his two swords and he's pretty damn good at it so far. I'm REALLY liking the changes to progression and combat so far. Switching between swords to a dual-fire spell to roast enemies is too much fun.

I can already see that I won't be getting much done this weekend...
