Even if you're not serious, I'm going to pretend you are and use this as proof that not all heroes wear capes.

I have a companion now, which the Jarl gave me. Can she be permanently killed?
I think Lydia can die permanently, and other sort of random characters who you get as companions. But there's companions in The Companions Guild (lol) who give you quests so they just sort of feint and stand back up after a few seconds when they get knocked out.

The archer dude from Riverwood is my companion for now, and he's "died" lots of times and just gotten back up.

Though, I suppose he's a quest giver too.

Mine died. In other news, I stumbled upon the first Daedric quest by accident; that was awesome.
Which one? Was it the one in Markarth with the abandoned house? Because that one ruled so many asses.

I'm at the second town now, Whiterun.
Defeated the first dragon, and bought a horse (as I mentioned earlier), not quite sure what to do now, I do have some minor quests, but not sure which ones are the main ones, I'll probably do a few tomorrow if I have time.
I'm a bit confused about one quest, it's the one where you either help the girl at the inn, or turn her over to the people looking for her, I've read a bit and will probably do the latter, but I am not quite sure where to find those people now...
Rorikstead. If you go to the quest menu and put it as active it should put two icons in your map. One is where the girl is in Whiterun and the other is Rorikstead.

Awesome, thanks! :D

Yes, she can die.  She has been my companion since I met the Jarl.  I did SOO much with her already that it pains me if she dies.  I always try to keep her safe (ie, tell her to wait somewhere if I see too many enemies or dwarven traps) and if she does die I restart from save.

:heart Lydia

Anyone went up the mountain to meet those Greybeards for the Dragon Shout quest line?  That was one LOOONG climb my god.  But the scenery of the entire world was stunning.  This game continues and continues to impress me.

That's no way to play the game man. Lydia hasn't died for me yet, but when she does I am sure it will have made my legacy all the more epic.

I just climbed up the highest mountain ever to learn more about shouts, cool stuff.
Oh yeah, I'm level 8 now btw.
For some reason my horse disappeared (wasn't killed, I traveled back to the city on my horse, and then it just won't spawn when I leave a city, oh well... 1000 gold to hell), anyhow... awesome game.
Been doing a lot of "small" things, cleared out some mini places with enemies, found a treasure map, and well... good times.  :hat

I think the next chance I get to play Skyrim, I am going to take Lydia to the top of the Throat of the World and lead her to a ledge. Then I shall unleash my full powered Unrelenting Force and watch her fall to her cold, long fall of death.

My dargon armor is almost done, just missing the boots now. It's so easy to kill them with the Slow Time shout.  :hat

edit: I'm not correcting that.

Some skank killed my horse a few gameplay hours ago :(

(it's fine actually, fuck horses in this game. I prefer moving along at a slower pace and taking everything in. If you could ride a horse in first person maybe)

Why are you some of you grinding smithing? I am level 20 and my smithing is like 47 now.  I would like to grind it to Dragon Armor, but I fear that unlocking that high smithing (without raising my combat skills) will result in world enemies much stronger than I can handle (since enemy levels scale with Perk levels)

It baffles me endlessly why this is not possible.

Another minor annoyance: why can't I see what my CURRENT bounty is? I don't necessarily care about my highest bounty or all time bounty.

I managed it quite well, but then again I didn't go from like 20 to 100, I did like 10-15 skill ups at a time then went and got my combat stuff up to scale.

Don't, unless you want to miss work and deal with the consequences of missing work.

Things took a rather grim turn today.

I finally decided to buy a house because I'm loaded, yo. So I happily skip to my house and what do I find in my bedroom?

Lydia's dead corpse in her underwear. She died while I was fighting a dragon somewhere very far from Whiterun, where the house is.
