Aquiles Priester is the new Primal Fear drummer.

A bit of a step down from DT, but good on him.

Another new Mr Big track;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oTrAhP4tVxA

I'm not really digging this one either.  It just comes across as rock by numbers to me without any real depth or character.  Might not even pick this one up.

Don Dokken and Mark Boals performing In My Dreams;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jLQPOzEDTfg

What the fuck is Boals thinking with that wig, bloody hell, should ask for a refund for that one.  Don seems lost the whole time and can't find his harmony line.  I knew Mark carried Don on Broken Bones but didn't know they were doing shit together.  Mark, I think TMac is calling you.

What's with Eric Martin these days? Really not enjoying his voice at all - he just doesn't seem to sit well in the music these days. The music is fine. Nothing earth shattering but fine. PG is always awesome.

Wolf, is the new drummer for a Primal Fear an upgrade or downgrade from Randy?

He plays for Angra and auditioned for DT, so he's definitely no downgrade, he's a beast.  I think I'd definitely take him over Randy.  He's definitely more versatile and a bit more groovy than Randy.  I think he could do some good things for the band.

Nice to hear! I think Primal Fear is due for a live album soon with their contract, so this would be a great chance to show him off

Just got an advance listen to an album by Skyscraper (new melrock project featuring Lee Small from Shy on vocals)..............I was really looking forward to it but , aside from one track , it's predictable, derivative crap.  :-\

You were right about that Death Dealer too Kade..........absolute shite for the most part.  The opening track in particular was horrid.  I didn't make it through many whole songs.  It got great reviews too .

I listened to a track from Skyscraper on youtube too the other day.  It was fine but nothing I'd probably invest my time in, and definitely won't know from your comments.

Yeah, I went searching for reviews on Death Dealer to see if I was alone in my opinions, and it seemed so.  I saw mostly really positive reviews too.  I don't think I made it through the whole thing either.  I think I remembered a couple of reviews saying that this is what Priest should have done after Painkiller, or this is basically a second coming of Painkiller, which made me loose my shit in laughter.

Not that many of you guys are into it, but, new Work of Art video.

So much glorious 80's style cheese, love it.  Robert Sall is a damn good guitarist though.

Nice enough song and I love the guy's voice (he could probably do DT songs justice).................but...............about as predictable as my response :neverusethis:

You could sub that track in to either of their other albums and I probably wouldn't notice the difference.  I won't be buying this as I don't hear anything I haven't already heard.

Never heard of them. I don't know what to think. I'm torn between I really like them or it's really lame. :lol

Great vocals and guitar though.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Haha.  Yeah, vox and guitar are great.  They are one of those guilty pleasure cheesy bands you gotta tell yourself it's okay to like, as long as you put something heavy on right after them.  :lol

Well, THAT'S a little harsh.  It's the powder puff or cotton candy of melodic rock.  Good in limited quantities, but no real lasting or harmful effects.

It's a different kind of cheesy.  Nothing heavy about their music whatsoever.

Sounds like yet another Frontiers records song/album. Not bad, but nothing new or original. Sounds better compared to the usual fare, but not by much.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

This is their third album, but the other two have been pretty much the same.

I think I checked out their first album at the time (and probably heard the single from the second album at the time), but I can't remember anything of it, I guess for that reason.
It's not that it's bad music, it's just no different to 99% of other Frontiers album. Cookie cutter production and songwriting, bring in next band, repeat.

I read that Andrew from melodicrock.com has heard it and said it was decent.  He had the same fears about Tolkki taking over.  I think he said it wasn't up to par as the first three, but not as bad as everyone expected.  I don't really care about it to be honest, it just seems like a totally different product now, and the mood, magic and atmosphere surrounding it is gone.

Work of Art - Can't Let Go

Much better than the previous song I heard. The music is like a happy trip to the 80s but with a modern sound. :)

Samples of 3 songs from the upcoming Crazy Lixx album. I thought New Religion was a great album, one of the best modern 80s style melrock albums, but the follow up, Riot Avenue was poor. This sounds closer to NR soundwise and sounds like a return to form.

It definitely sounds better than Riot Avenue, which I also thought was pretty poor, but it doesn't sound like it will touch New Religion, which was great. I don't think the songwriting quality is there on this new one. I think New Religion was just a one-off for me.
