20ish or so.  No rush.  Just wanted to know what was essential, and what is filler.

With Talisman that's easy. Just get them all
Controversially, my least favourite is Humanimal I & II. They went too heavy, and heaviness is not what attracted me to Talisman in the first place. Saying that, I do like the album by the band Humanimal (pretty much Talisman II) from a few years ago.

............and I thought the Humanimal (band) was crap  ;D  I suppose that's controversial too as most seemed to like it.  Reminds me of Cats and Dogs - the only Talisman album I don't like.

I like Cat & Dogs.

Only listened to the Unisonic once but impression was favourable. Needs more plays though.

King, that song sucks. I heard it a couple of weeks ago. I was just listening to the title track streaming about 10 minutes ago. It really wasn't that great either. His last album was pretty bad though. Sucks because I love Ace. This is definitely a listen before I buy album.

Twisted Sister is amazing

Wow, that gave me goosebumps.  I am definitely getting that. Obviously gonna watch it while the kids are in school. :lol

Such a huge Alice Cooper influence, and I love the fact that Pete Way produced their first album. Those first three albums are freaking incredible.

The thing with Twisted Sister was that although it took them forever to "get there" it was over pretty quick. Only saw them once, opening for Dio in 1984.

Here's what I find baffling about Twisted Sister. In my own experience, everyone I knew who was into the 80's rock/metal scene back in the day fucking hated them. Absolutely despised them. They were considered a joke.

Fast forward to today, and many of these people claim to love them now. I don't get it.

Nuno, I can only speak for myself. I was a huge UFO fan, so when I found out Pete Way produced an album by a band called Twisted Sister, I got Under The Blade. I thought it was OK. But You Can't Stop Rock n Roll is freaking KILLER, as is Stay Hungry.
I think a lot of people thought they were a joke as We're Not Gonna Take It was played on MTV ad nauseum. Hard to take a band seriously that looked like that, but up until that point, they rocked pretty hard and were a great band.
But Come Out To Play is pretty weak, and Love Is For Suckers is even worse.

Yeah, I remember the "You Can't Stop Rock-N-Roll" video getting a little bit of play back then, and I thought it kicked ass. But when "We're Not Gonna Take It" came out, it didn't even seem like the same band. Then the next album, I believe they released a video for their cover of "Leader of the Pack", which I thought was just comical.

However, I do think "The Price" is a highly underrated power ballad. I heard it on the radio before I ever saw the video, and was blown away when the DJ said it was Twisted Sister afterward.

But We're Not Gonna Take It really does not represent what Stay Hungry was all about. Stay Hungry kicks some serious ass.

Yes, Leader Of The Pack, and also Be Cruel To Your School, even with Alice Cooper, was pretty awful. I checked out as a fan at that point.

Sounds ok. Big 70s vibe which isn't really my thing but there'll be plenty of cool guitar on there. Sounds no worse than Chickenfoot, Black Country Communion, California Breed etc. Keeling is a good singer.

Yeah - sounds like a lot of these other bluesy rock bands about at the moment.  No doubt Kelly's vocals and Vinnie's leads will give them some sort of identity so I'll check out the samples.

I'm currently putting together a mix tape at the request of my 6 yo son.................and before you say I'm calling the shots on this , he tells me within 10 seconds of the start of a song whether it makes the grade (a man after my own heart  ;D  ) , so I didn't even get a chance to tell him what to pick.  We had a "music day" on Sunday where we listened to a mix of some rock anthems I thought he might latch onto , his kids CDs , some iTunes radio etc.... and he had sole call on what made it onto the CD.  Here's what he picked:

KISS - Rock And Roll All Nite , Shout It Out Loud
Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It
Queen - We Will Rock You
Scooby Doo Theme
Michael Jackson - Thriller , Beat It, Black or White
Europe- The Final Countdown
Food Glorious Food - Oliver (very, very appropriate for him)
Phil Collins : Billy Don't You Lose My Number
Michael Henderson: In The Night Time
Toto- Africa
Pharrell Williams- happy
Sunshine and Lollipops??
Gary Moore- Friday On My Mind
Whitesnake- Here I Go Again
Elton John - Crocodile Rock
LEGO s'track - Everything Is Awesome
Poison- Nothing But A Good Time
Weird Al - Eat It , I Love Rocky Road
Creeper (Minecraft parody of Thriller)
Alice Cooper- Poison
Ac/DC - Thunderstruck
Europe - The Final Countdown
Bon Jovi - Living On A Prayer
Ray parker - Ghostbusters
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
Van Halen - Dreams, Jump , You Really Got Me

I'm impressed.  :hat

You beat me to it.

For a six year old, that's quite impressive.  It has the staples of Countdown, Poison, Thunderstruck etc.  But the addition of songs like Dreams, Tiger, Friday, Here I Go and Africa are credible.

When that song came out, every bastard would be going around singing it and cause we have to have mainstream radio on at work, it was on like every hour.  People would say, "don't you love this song,"  I replied with "No, I fucking hate it, it's the biggest pile of shit I've ever heard."  They just look at me like I was an alien. :lol

I haven't got to the obscure stuff yet Jay - I want him to have some sort of hope of hearing the music he likes when he's not here  ::)   I know how much it grates on me when I have to keep up appearances and listen to shit music all day.

Come to think of it he has a mate whose parents are close with my missus - every time I go over there I grit my teeth and listen to dance music and stuff like "Happy" (wolfie would love it) but when they come to my place it takes about half an hour before they either ask for the music to be changed or just walk over to the stereo and start stuffing around with it.   They even asked if they could stop my ultra-mega-awesome playlist and put something else on at my 40th birthday and I told them in no uncertain terms "ain't gonna happen" and I got a glare from the missus as if to say "That was rude."  ;D    I tell ya who was rude and was fucken wasn't me  :hat

So I figure I better get him into some stuff that rocks but might pop up somewhere on occasion.  Don't want him to feel like an outcast when he goes out like I do  ;D
