Most unique item in your DT Catalog
« on: November 08, 2011, 01:40:01 PM »
The ebay bootleg item in the side chat got me thinking, I have a few really neat things in my catalog.  Not sure how many of them are unique, or rare.  For me (I think) the most unique thing I have is the Necromican Prologue and Epilogue.  I also have a cover of Since I've Been Loving You.

What's your unique item?  ZeppelinDT is not allowed to respond, as he'd put us all to shame.

Most rare?

BC&SL 3-CD, to be honest, which is not that rare. Not. One. Bit.

Fuck.

None.  :'(

A mint condition copy of the 1985 high school yearbook that features JP, KM and JM.  It's my only unique item.

Below is a pic of the book itself.

I must say, I was lucky enough to get a firsthand look at ZepDT's collection a couple months ago and it was quite a treat.  I was like a kid in a candy store.  My fav item of his was some handwritten lyrics sheets from the WDADU sessions.

I only collect CD/DVD bootlegs, but none of those I own is really unique in the way the Uncovered boot or the early majesty live recording are. If I am called to name the most unique of them, I'd probably choose the original Lost In The Sky bootleg. Old stuff, printed in 93/94

Limited Edition Lifting Shadows book, and original flaming apple Live Scenes From New York CD.

I'm not sure the Majesty pendant necklace counts, but if so, that too.

I don't have anything extraordinary, but I own most fan club Christmas CDs, this promo release: https://rateyourmusic.com/release/single/dream_theater/live_bonus_tracks/ , a bunch of autographed items (tour books, guitar books, etc.), a couple of EPs (Silent Man, Hollow Years, Through Her Eyes - although I guess these are not really "rare"); otherwise I have a bunch of releases that aren't rare or outta print, but that quite a few people might not own: side projects, tributes featuring members, etc. I also have a few bootlegs (Acoustic Dreams, Instrumentals 1 & 2, The Rudess Experiment, Demos), but they're not original copies so that doesn't really count either.

I have the radio release of "Home", complete with the hole punched in the jewel case. I have a stainless steel Majesty logo that someone made. Got it on ebay. It's about 4" by 4" and I have it sitting on my desk at work. I also have a collection of guitar picks in a frame where each pic has a different album scene on it. :metal

Each CD is signed by both of them as well as the original artwork I put together, so 6 signatures in total.

THAT is a cool frame.

IFC items... forgot about those.  I have a handful of those, including the Romavarium concert video.

Not sure if this qualifies as unique, but I have a cassette copy of an old DT concert with Dominici on vocals... the show opens with Metropolis.

I also have a cassette copy of a Majesty show with Collins on vocals.  I believe during that show they play a version of Afterlife with original/alternate lyrics.

I am pretty sure they qualify as unique as hell.  :hefdaddy

Could you name the other tracks from the dominici show? Was The Killing Hand played?

first edition Lifting Shadows book, I guess.

Also The Silent Man single...not sure how rare their singles are.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. For physical stuff, I don't have much. I guess the best thing I have is the SCORE DVD signed by all of DT. Nothing fancy, but still very cool and technically unique, because nobody else could have one *exactly* like it. :)

For digital files, I have some super rare stuff that I probably can't even mention.

My most unique item?

You see, like most of my DT CD's now that I think of it, I got my copy of Awake used. It was my first album and I thought, I loved the concert, why not? If you take a look there is a blot that won't come off. Someone sneezed on it. Because of this, I cannot listen to Caught in a Web all the way through. Ever. It stops around the guitar solo I think. But nevertheless it's unique, and I doubt anyone could match that. Also the CD holder inside my ADTOE jewel case is kind of broke so the CD doesn't hold too great.

Also, my Images and Words CD is unique too. Pull Me Under just stops about 8 minutes in.

Probably the rarest thing I have of theirs is a signed poster, CD, and metronome from the Guitar Center signing two months ago.
