Homeland (TV Series)
« on: October 31, 2011, 11:48:16 AM »
I put off making a thread for this show, just because I wasn't sure how well it would be able to spin out the concept into a season (or more) of television.  As it turns out, they can.  This is a pretty riveting, interesting, show, and given all the ways it could possibly misfire (with such sensitive topics like Islam, terrorism, illegal surveillance, etc.) it hasn't yet.  5 episodes in, and the narrative's only gaining momentum.

Check it out.  It's the best drama airing episodes right now by a fair margin, and will help fill the Breaking Bad-sized hole in your hearts.

I've been meaning to check it out after my dad recommended it, I'll report back once I get a chance.

So yeah.  This show is definitely the best drama airing currently.

People should watch it.

I'm surprised this isn't getting more hits. I recently finished the second season. This show is amazing  :metal

My enthusiasm is pretty much all gone.  The second season was really bad.

Really? I found it better than the first season. What was so bad about it?

So much this. The second season seems a lot better than the first one to me.

Just finished season 1 of this and really enjoyed it.  I'll be surprised and impressed if the 2nd season is as good or better.

IMO Homeland is another pathetic show that manages to absolutely caricature Islam, like America needs more of that.

Anybody watching the new series?

I like the bit where Carrie says something and Saul says something but then Carrie gets mad and has sex with some guy and Saul screws Carrie over and Carrie gets sad but Saul hasn't really screwed her over; her's protecting her but she doesn't see it....

Yea me too!!!

I actually think it's quite decent and the acting is great even if it is a bit schmaltzy at times.

I really enjoyed the first two season of this show, especially the first. I'm a little bored with season three so far, I just really do not give a shit about Dana.

I like Dana, but I do not want them spending this much time on her.

I kinda like the first two episodes, but it's pretty typical Homeland drama so far.

I'm sure it'll pick up this week. I think Carrie's situation from the first two episodes will end up playing a huge role later in the season. Otherwise they wouldn't spend too much time on it.

I also couldn't care less about Dana.

I didn't see that!

This weeks episode (Season 3 Ep3) was really good! No Dana which was a bonus!

It felt very bleak and hopeless.

I actually found myself once again feeling sorry for Brody. And when he made it to the mosque I felt relieved for him. Then the Imam dude turns him over to the authorities. Fuck! Then they get shot and he has to go back to that half built tower block. Double fuck!

Carrie is getting crazier whilst trying to convice everyone she's not crazy which is driving her crazy. Very good set-up episode. Very dark.

IMO Homeland>Walking dead.

I couldn't agree more.

Now, let's talk about Sunday's episode. Although now it seems perfectly logical, I did not see any of that coming. At all

I thought Carrie was really being betrayed by Saul and the CIA. Turns out it was just the CIA. Damn, what a long con by the writers.

I'm two episodes into season 2. It's good, but I wouldn't mind if Carrie got shot in the head right about now.

I'm considering dropping this show. I'm a bit more than half-way into season 2 and everyone is annoying. Seriously, everything everyone does is pissing me off. Only Saul is okay at this point.

Yep, I quit this show one and a half episodes in to season 3. I can't stand any of these fucking characters anymore. Started Mr Robot instead.

I revisited the show after leaving it a couple of episodes into S05 when it aired, I just lost interest. Since i'm not following any particual show atm and was in the mood for a show like Homeland I rewatched S05. It was a bit better this time and I must say S06 is definitely more interesting than I thought.

Finished S08 yesterday and while the last season was the same ol' I thought the ending actually was pretty well written.

I thought it was an OK way to end it but the believability of Carrie's role is questionable to me.
