Not quite. I flew around for a little bit trying to learn how to steer the thing, then after a second got kinda disoriented, and somehow ended up hitting the ground upside down.

Gotcha. At least you did better than I did. I described my experience in my last post. It was a short flight, to say the least.

My first helicopter attempt just a moment ago was much much more catastrophic however :lol

Take off with a full chopper full of dudes, immediately turn hard left into the ground.

I'm finding this game to be incredibly difficult to play.  I don't understand how I'm getting shot most of the time  :lol

I don't understand how I'm supposed to see the enemy and then shoot them in this game.  The map is so huge and there are so many things going on.

I tried flying the jet and that didn't go so well haha.  Also tried an attack helicopter and that was pretty hard to do also.  I'm going to see if I can tweak the key bindings to make my life a little easier.  I am used to playing FPS on PC differently than most.  I set up the left mouse button to walk forward, right button to walk backwards, then have crouch and jump and strafe on wasd.  Then I'll shoot with my spacebar.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

I dunno it just always felt more right to me.  I could control all of my movement with one hand, and all effects type buttons with my other hand.  I slayed in MOHAA doing these.  The thing I need to adjust for now is aiming down the sight however.  I'm going to see if I can map my mouses's back button to be the aim down the sight button.

I wanna get something organized tonight, you PC guys. I'm gonna be on starting at 9:30-10pm Eastern. We should group up on Battlelog -- it has VoIP functionality.

A buddy of mine plays FPSs on his laptop with a touch pad. I don't know how he's so good.

Oh that is interesting.  Didn't know you could do that.  I guess that works too.  I still think its weird that the game menu is basically facebook for the game.  It's definitely weird.

I think it works.  It will take a bit of getting used to, but it works.  I just think it takes away from the atmosphere a little bit.  I was hoping it would be more like the way Starcraft 2 is set up.  I do think it's cool that you have a profile that you can keep track of what you've done and everything though.

Despite the current bugs, I actually like battlelog for the most part. It runs quite well, and as a result of having it out-of-game the game itself loads pretty quickly, and alt-tabs beautifully. It's pretty cool to be able to surf the web and such in between loads or servers. Once they get the bugs ironed out it'll be a damn good system I think.

What graphics cards are you guys running?  I have an ATI Radeon 4800 something I think with 1GB.  My cpu is 2.93ghz i7 quadcore.  12 GB of RAM.

I'm surprised that it seems a bit glitchy on high settings.  I turned it to low for multiplayer for performance over beauty.

Do you know how to get an FPS counter to show up?

Download FRAPS, I'm not sure how to get a counter from the game.

I'm running a Radeon 6950 and can run on max (except turned deferred AA off) at 50-60FPS.  I have an AMD Athlon II X4 635 OC'd to 3.6GHz and 4GB of RAM.

I probably won't be joining you all tonight because I'm having an early copy of Uncharted 3 sent to me sometime today.

I have a HD4870, Core 2 duo 2.3 GHz, and 3 gig of RAM. Definitely starting to show it's age, but it still runs everything pretty damn well considering.

Also, apparently disabling MSAA is a massive FPS boost, and looking at the comparison screenshots it doesn't seem to have a huge affect on the visuals: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/comments/lossk/bf3s_msaa_and_its_effect_on_quality_and_framerate/

Also, to enable an FPS counter:

1) Hit the Tilde Key (~)

2) Type "Render.DrawFps 1"

3) Hit Enter

Use 0 instead of 1 to turn it off again.

Thanks Sigz and everyone else.  That's some super helpful information.  I feel like my computer should def be able to run this game on high no problem.  (It pretty much was, but I still felt like there was some weirdness going on.)  The auto settings set everything to High pretty much.

Even on low settings this game looks incredible though.  When I set my settings to low I was really surprised at how awesome it still looked.

I'm going to try this when I get home and see how the system reacts.  I was playing single player on high settings and was blown away by the visuals.  But I think it was a little jittery.  There was also a horizontal glitch looking thing when i looked from side to side with my mouse.

Also, post your origin SN's

This game is freaking hard online >:(
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.
