I bought MW3 yesterday, played it all day today and decided to buy Battlefield 3 just now.  Ive never played the battlefield series, but MW3 is the same old same old, sure its fun, but its boring now, time for something new for me.  I will most likely be absolutely terrible.
It definitely takes time adjusting to.

Keep in mind that the game sucks hard without gun accessories.

Accessories as in attachments similar to COD? Im a newb with this game.  Ive played the past four COD and Ive been playing FPSs since Golden Eye so Im not a newb to the genre of games, just this particular game.

My download is still going, but I figure I will be playing sometime after midnight tonight.

Basically, yes. Scopes, suppressors, bipods, extended mags, laser sight etc.

Just be prepared for the Battlefield experience. It's a whole new ballgame compared to the MW series.

I had never used Amazon to download a game before, but I certainly dont like how they didnt give me a choice as to where to install the game, I only have a small amount of free space on my C drive since it is 60 GB SSD used just for me OS and a few apps.  It seems that I can just used the product code and use Origin to download and place it on a different drive.  I dont understand why I had to wait till it downloaded from Amazon before it decided there wasnt enough space.

Im pretty good at FPS being a goldeneye guy...and I tried the last COD on a buddies ps3 and was horrible.

I think it's the realism of it. Realistically I wouldn't get 2 or 3 football fields away from an actual sniper...why was I surprised when it happened in the game?
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

...I don't understand what you're trying to say. But trust me, just because you're good on GoldenEye doesn't mean you'll be good on BF3. Very different games.

Also, bf3 and Modern Warfare are hardly realistic.

Yes, because the bar for realism has been set in FPS' (and don't fucking give me America's Army)

I haven't played any of them, but I've heard the Operation Flashpoint games tend to be realistic.

I don't really know what you mean.

I mean there's not much of a "realism in FPS" precedent, so it's hard to judge what is and isn't realistic.

What? Why does that matter? The games are balanced to be fun and competitive, not to be realistic. I haven't played it (nor am I interested in doing so), but I hear Arma2 does a pretty good job at simulation.

Um, it matters because you said the games weren't realistic, and I countered that there really is no realism baseline (except for America's Army, which you can barely call a game) That's why it "matters"

I just don't understand why there needs to be a "realism baseline" game. The baseline is reality.

I don't understand what you find baffling about a simple counter to a statement you made. It's hard to judge realism in a limited sample; thus saying games like MW3 and BF3 are "hardly realistic" is misleading at best, due to the simple fact that many things about the game simulate reality in stunning ways.

If MW3 and BF3 aren't realistic, what would you say about TF2 or Quake? It's quite obvious games like MW3 and BF3 are attempting to be as realistic as possible while still maintaining that it's a video game and certain very unrealistic things can still happen.

There are war games that simulate realism. Battlefield and Modern Warfare aren't among them.

Started playing the game today, I played through the first few levels of single player so that I can learn the buttons and the general gameplay.  I must say the graphics are fantastic.  I played a couple rounds of mulitplayer and it was fun, couldnt get more kills than deathes, but I made some improvement as I played.  Looking forward to getting better and learning more about this game.

cool moment this evening...
was dogfighting with a jet, he was ahead of me and started to move up. we both hit the roof ceiling and he ejected.... straight onto my jet, there was even a sound for it?! it's the little details that count and battlefield is full of them! best roadkill for me in a while.
