So for those coffee drinkers from the Coffee vs Tea thread, do you have a preferred style of coffee?

I'll go a short long macchiato, topped up, no sugar.

Mikael Ã…kerfeldt had to do something in between the recording session for Morningrise and the writing period of My Arms Your Hearse ;)

Hate Instant Coffee.

Just plain coffee.  No lattes, no cappucinos, no frappes, no espressos, no half-cafs.

Just plain old Coffee.  I'm a Dunkin Donuts coffee guy.

Jamesman42

Plain, though with milk/cream is also welcome. I can dig the dessert coffees but to me those don't count.
\o\ lol /o/

King Postwhore

Sorry.  I have mine regular and up here in NH is means cream and sugar.

Black when at home or when wanting cheap coffee, otherwise cappucino.

njdtfan

Black, no cream, no sugar, and only a top quality coffee.

yorost

Chemex brewed for drip coffee, with fresh ground beans.  Always black, if it needs sugar or cream you're brewing it wrong.

Love espresso after spending time in Rome, but most North American places butcher espresso drinks.  Too big, too sweet, terrible espresso used.

Not at all. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Well OP is more or less correct because cream/sugar masks most of the taste.  The only time I put that stuff in is if I'm having crap coffee.  Once you've had GOOD coffee and tried it black a few times you won't go back.

How dumb do you think I am?   Of course some people are always going to prefer sugar or cream over black.  That comment emphasizes my taste and that well done coffee is not as vile tasting as many believe.

As a way to cover common, bad coffee, sugar and cream is often overused.  Some people belive coffee must be taken this way and I like to challenge that.  One of the best ways to judge coffee quality, from brew to roast to bean, is in how it tastes black.  Well done it is even easy to drink strong, black coffee cold.

I've worked in two different coffee shops and drank my body weight over several times in some very awesome domestic and foreign varieties. I like my espresso black but to make statements like "you're doing it wrong if you need cream/sugar" is borderline condescending/purist. I've been on both sides of this fence and in the end I prefer cream and sugar as it rounds out the flavor nicely and helps my poop stay more solid.

yorost

I'm not saying they're doing it wrong, I always offer sugar and cream to people I brew for.  I'm saying coffee is misunderstood.  Most coffee shops actually serve awful drip coffee, so I don't really give you credit until I know more.

I've only been a coffee drinker for 18 months now, oddly enough that is the same age as my youngest son. I buy the pre-ground Starbucks French Roast, brew a 22 oz mug in the morning. It's a pretty heavy handed pile of coffee grains as well, I like my coffee where you can stick a spoon in it and it will stand. I add a dash of 2% Milk and (6) packets of Sweet and Low.

For a while I was hooked on heading over to the local Starbucks around 3 O'Clock and grabbing a Grande Cafe' Americano but for some reason I started developing strange tinges and jerking in my neck at night and couldn't sleep.  :( So I put an end to that habit.

Kosmo

Plain coffee with some milk. I can't stand sugar in coffee.

mrjazzguitar

espresso

only Intellientsia (yea thats how its spelled) coffee from Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in NYC.

snapple

Orbert

Black. Brewed if I can get it, otherwise instant is fine. I guess I'm just not that picky.

If it's really bad, though, I'll put some sugar in it to make it tolerable.

TimmyHiggy

I like it the same way ziltoid likes it
