God dammit, start with Act I.  That's the way it's meant to be done, aside from the fact that it's the best.

I love all 3 equally but I second this man, go in order.

I could honestly see anyone making a case for all 3 of the Acts, and the opinion on the best one seems very even across all three, so I wasn't telling him Act I in an "Act I is the very best" kind of way, but rather in a way that since they're all equally fantastic you might as well begin at the start of the story.

Since Seth says Act I and Ryan says act II I think it's easily safe to assume you should start with Act III.

I hope the price on the Color EP vinyls go down sooner or later; I am neither willing nor able to shell out $80 for that.

4.  Acoustic Bonus Tracks/EP (From Act I/II vinyl)

Out of curiosity, is this the acoustic recordings from the Purevolume sessions, or are they other recordings/studio recordings?  I'm just curious because I picked up an acoustic collection of theirs called "The Purevolume sessions" or something and I'm just curious if it's the same.  Which tracks are on this one?

I doubt they will.  I think they're limited, so once they're gone, they're gone.

I'm not sure what The Purevolume Session are.  The thing I'm talking about is a 4-track bonus download with Oracles, Pimp and the Priest, What It Means to Be Alone and Where the Road Parts.

edit:  Googling tells me that the purevolume sessions thing is 3 live tracks that look like they were from some radio show or something.  The tracks from the Act I/II vinyl are re-worked versions of the songs recorded acoustically in the studio.  I can't find any of them on youtube though :(.  (The version of Oracles is uber-sweet).

Is it just me or do Acts I and II have a bit of a different feel than Act III? I'd say I like all of them for different reasons and each one has been my favourite at some time. However I can't really rank them individually now. I think of them more as a single package rather than a concept album with 2 sequels. When I think of them like that, they are well on their way to being my favourite piece of music ever!

My ranking:

1. Act III
2. Act II
3. Act I
4. Random EP #1/2 (seeing as 1 is also included within 2, I treat these as the same thing)
5. Branches EP

All are amazing though, it's only the Branches EP that I'm not overjoyed about and even that's great.

In terms of where to start, even though I think they've got better and better with each album (within the story anyway), I do think it's better to start from the beginning and follow it through. Much more rewarding.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.
I be am boner inducing.

Forgot about that.  I only have digital versions and I've got them labeled separately and separated.  (Still kicking myself for not picking up hard copies when I had the chance!)

They might just be shipping in the order that they received the orders.  I put my order in like 8 seconds after they announced it was available.

I'm going to hold out on the new songs that Zep just linked to until I can hear the entire thing. I want there to be as much magic as possible on my first listen!
