An 8-part EP series based on the planets?  Yeah, sounds a little too similar to TCS at this point.

Hey, Gustav Holst's 'The Planets.'

Yeah but TCS was written waaaaaaaaay after that.  Doing a Planets thing now or even in five years I think would be too close to the TCS concept.

Even though if it feels to soon to release another "TCS"-esque project, I say if it feels right for Casey, he should do it. I encourage him. I loved the heck out TCS so having something based around the concept of the planets seems cool.

"Uranus stinks trolololol"

Now that we got that out of the way, we're ready for planet EPs.

I am constantly blown away by how powerful his voice is.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

I've decided to listen to The Color Spectrum. Would it be better to listen to the EPs as separate entities (i.e. listen to them each a few times to familiarize myself before moving on to the next one) or as a complete piece?
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

They definitely work better and flow better as a full set.  But be wary that it's quite a daunting task.  If you have the time to do it, I would suggest listening to them all in order at least once before attacking them individually.  I don't think I've ever managed to actually sit through the entire thing in one sitting though (other than the live show).  I usually tend to listen to two or three EP's in a row, take a break, then pick it up later.

But really... it's awesome no matter how you listen.

I've only listened to it as one giant album, and personally it's the only way I could listen to it.

Analysing Act I's lyrics for my English Language coursework, I've had to dedicate a whole colour to language semantically linked to Religion. I'm not complaining though, there's some really intelligent play on words and metaphors to really get into.

Oh, and the music is bloody wonderful as well.

Yup.  Writing was done months ago.  Recording was finished within the past week or two I think.  Mastering/mixing was finished today.

Unless I remember wrong it's like TCS2 without being a color spectrum album.

He said he was going in to the studio without any preconceived notions of what the album would be. So it's possible, but pretty unlikely that it ended up being Act IV.

I thought he explicitly denied that it would be Act IV. It's supposed to be a collection of unrelated songs.

Release date before 2013?

Nothing official yet, but if I were to make an educated guess, I'd say sometime around December/January.

This.  Definitely not Act IV.  No concept whatsoever.  Just a collection of songs.

After these next two albums I'm with you on that one.  The main story's over.  The prequel's coming out.  Jesse's time on earth and stuff can be dealt with in PFI (which has written several non-Amory Wars songs lately).  Just make either a new concept or write a bunch of unrelated songs.

I got into them listening to The Color Spectrum. It's a nice collection of EPs with a lot of variety. You will surely find something you like. Once you get used to their sound then go for the acts starting with the first one.

I just finished listening to this.  Red Hands may be the greatest thing i've ever heard and the rest of the album is awesome as well.  I'm starting The Color Spectrum next.  HOW HAVE I NEVER LISTENED TO THIS BAND.

Yeah, Red Hands generally the one that first hits everybody.  The rest of the songs get SO much better with repeated listens.  TCS is quite a task, but it's certainly worth it.  And the Acts become so much more enjoyable once you start digging into the story.  So glad you're digging them. :)

It's also an absurdly fun live song.  Especially when they play it at the Knitting Factory.

Check it out (Red Hands starts at around 1:12:00 into the video)

God i wish they would have played it at the show last friday.
After listening to Acts 2 and 3 and TCS, i don't think i've heard a single track i didn't like.  I'd still put Red Hands as my favorite though.
