This is a big deal, Ryan. The Dear Hunter are serious business.

I'd say they are.  Playing small venues, the Yellow, Indigo, Green, and White EPs, they're on an independent label, they love vinyl, BEARDS...yeah, definitely indie.

I don't even know what 'indie' even really means anymore.  I feel like it's become more of a "genre" term than actually having anything to do with being "independent".

While they are still playing small venues, they're definitely growing.  2 years ago I saw them play a headlining show to like 20 or 30 people.  On the latest tour they sold out I think 6 or 7 consecutive shows.

Although as far as the record label stuff, I'm not sure they're actually currently signed to any label at all.  I know Triple Crown had dropped them and then Casey just did TCS basically by himself using the Fan Club signup funds.  Then when it was finished Triple Crown was basically like "Oh, hey... I guess since all the work is already done we can release it for you".  They may have signed with them after, but at this point I don't really know whether they're actually on the label or of if these were just released as "one-off" sorta deals.

Totally right on beards though.  So much beardtacularness.

Casey beard!

Nick beard!

Max beard!

Jesus beard!

And the extremely elusive Connor beard!

Now somebody just needs to find the even more elusive Rob beard...

Well whatever this genre is, I love it. Please inform me of other bands that play music like this.

Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet and White finally really clicked for me this weekend. Took long enough. Still don't like Indigo. Black, Red and Orange are good but each are brought down by one or two not so great songs.

So apparently TDH are doing a few free in-store acoustic performances at various PacSun stores during the Manchester Orchestra tour.  Doesn't look like any of them will be anywhere near me, but these are the ones listed. All the shows start at 4:00pm:

November 3rd - Conestoga Mall - St. Grand Island, NE
November 6th - Mayfair Mall - Wauwatosa, WA
November 10th - Park City Center - Lancaster, PA
November 14th - Tyson's Corner Center - McLean, VA
November 15th - Lynnhaven Mall - Virginia Beach City, VA
November 21st - Galleria at Ft. Lauderdale - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

The weird thing about these shows is that as far as I know there's been no real announcement of them.  I just happened to be on the PacSun website and stumbled across them... I was all like...

Not a clue.  A couple of weeks ago Casey dropped by the message board and said they were still working on the setlist but didn't know what to include.  He asked us what songs he thought they should play, so, for what it's worth, I threw in suggestions for "Misplaced Devotion" and "The Inheritance"...

Although, I'd be willing to bet they do at least one or two Red songs with Andy.

I'd love to see Misplaced Devotion, Crow and Cackle, Black Sandy Beaches, or Progress/Therma live.

Several of us were pushing for Misplaced Devotion to be in the setlist for the PacSun tour, so hopefully Casey listened...

Black Sandy Beaches gets played tons, so I'm sure it'll find it's way into a setlist on one of these tours eventually...

Casey said he really wants to play Progress and Therma, but hasn't yet figured out a practical way to pull it off live.

Missed that free MP3 somehow, thanks for posting that!  :tup

I love all the acoustic videos he's been doing lately, but some parts are a bit pitchy.  :-\ I know Casey has struggled with singing a little bit in live shows, but it's never a big deal because of how energy packed the shows are... acoustic, it kind of sticks out a bit more. That said, I love when he goes into "Mighty Morphin Casey" mode on Score and the end of Inheritance.

I just think some of these songs translated to solo acoustic don't work very well in their current arrangements.

The standard edition looks awesome.  :tup I haven't ordered mine, and there are so many things I need to pay for, but I can't wait when I eventually get it!

What's inside the wooden box? Is it the same sleeves as the standard edition?

As far as I know it's exactly the same as the standard edition except that it's in a box made of wood and it comes with the print.  Not sure though... I don't have the standard version.

Oh, so the things at the bottom of the picture where what was in the box? I think you're right then, because I was assuming you had the special edition on the top and the standard edition on the bottom.
