This should be interesting.  Act IV was SO GOOD.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Act IV is the most mature album, but it has several fan-service references to older material.
If time is no issue, I'd recommend the four acts in chronological order.

100% Act IV!! Can't actually remember the last time an album hit me this hard. It's consistent, has amazing lyrics and it continues to grow on me. The last time this happened was probably a Coheed and Cambria album years ago. Need to go and listen to it again  :lol going to end up single due to the amount of love I give this album, my girlfriend doesn't understand lol

Yeah, Act IV is probably the best place to start.

That's how I did it, and it worked out well for me :).  Although I'll say Act II was the one that really first hooked me in.

Apparently the new single "The Revival" just dropped. Not available in my country yet unfortunately but I thought I'd share, let me know if it's good!

Was just coming here to post this. I like it. I liked it more than Gloria on first listen. It feels similar to Act IV which I'm more than happy about. I really hope that Act V is a darker counterpart to Act IV. The new song has a slightly darker feel I guess and the album art is definitely darker. It could be night to Act IV's day.

I heard it now, it's on spotify too.

I don't know which I like better, Gloria or The Revival, but I love love that dark second half of the song and as usual a fantastic chorus! Fun fact: If you put the song on loop it flows perfectly into itself.

Yep, if one thing Casey is great at it's vocal melodies and sing-along choruses.

Can't believe this album is out soon. I ordered the deluxe edition and cannot wait  :heart

Revival is going to be so good live. I'm actually excited and a bit amazed they're stopping by here in Albuquerque at the intimate venue.
I don't know how they can be so proud of winning with them odds. - Little Big Man

Awesome song! Both this and Gloria have hints of things from the Color Spectrum, but still with the overall feel of the dear hunter story. Really can't wait for the album. :caffeine:

So guys I think I just got an insane deal on the Color Spectrum live DVD. I just found it brand new on eBay for $17 dollars. I was a bit skeptical about it at first but the seller rating is extremely high and there appeared to be nothing weird about it. Looking on Amazon I see the cheapest goes for about $90 or so used.

Lucky bugger. I guess it was some dude selling it as a one off? Not a store?

I'd given up looking but I might search again!!

Actually, it was rarewaves-usa, and they sell a ton of stuff so I was surprised they sold this for so little. Maybe they just didn't understand the value of it.

The Revival is an instant classic, honestly. Might just be my favorite TDH chorus too, and that's an awfully high standard.

There are 2 up on ebay at the moment but they're both region 1 so no good for me  :tdwn

The cheapest one is only £10.56 with free P&P!! That's really cheap, the second is only £16. Think the cheapest is through All My Music or something like that. NEED to watch it now!!

Jesus Christ.

A Night on the Town may be the most glorious piece of music ever. I never tire of it.

The musical crescendo that builds and explodes after the line '...this stolen breath here underneath.' is euphoric. I'm cooking my dinner and belting out this album. I've had a pretty hard day at work and this shit is the drug I need.

I have the biggest fucking grin. I cannot explain to people who don't 'get' the power of music what this feels like but you guys get it so I have a place to ramble on.

I listened to Act II recently and reminded myself how fucking good it is.

I still put Act IV, 4th, in terms of the Acts. It's a great record, 4-stars for sure, but the other 3 Acts are so damn good, I can't find myself placing it higher than any of them.

I mean I love all the Acts but I really struggle to see how anyone could rate Act IV in #4!!

Act IV is so perfect to me, the other records all have some slow points or songs I'm not too fussed about. I think the inclusion of an orchestra in Act IV is a huge part of what makes it so superior in my opinion. I think this is obviously Casey has been working towards and he has a love for orchestral music as we know. I think Act IV must have been the first time they had the budget to be able to bring Casey's vision to life 100%. I'm pretty sure he would have liked to be able to do this sort of thing on Acts I-III.

Act IV is easily the best album I have discovered in the last 5-6 years at least.

They did have the orchestra for the live recordings of Migrant at audiotree previously, I'd argue that some of it is better than the orchestral parts on Act IV but it's all great. (love the live recording of Shame with the orchestra)

Yea, that's true but Act IV was the first Act album with the orchestra fully integrated into it. I love the live album with the live orchestra I really do. It makes the music much more powerful.

I'm totally swung by that sort of thing though. I mean two are my favourite albums ever are Nobuo Uematsu's (Original Final Fantasy composer) first two Distant Worlds albums (Final Fantasy music played by a full orchestra). So yea, that shit is my jam.

If they could one day play a couple of dates, play all the Acts in order with a full live orchestra AND record that shit my life would be complete.

Well they are doing the date at the Filmore on the 28th October with a full orchestra.

I think if they gain more success, and the budget that goes with it, they are totally working towards something like this.

I can only hope it will happen and that it will be somewhere close enough that I will be able to attend.
