Every single time I listen to Weather Systems or We're Here Because We're Here they feel as fresh and inspiring and beautiful as they did on my initial listens. Such an outstanding band.

I guess I need to pick up Alternative 4 now. I'm expecting good things based on the recs here. I'm picking up the discography in reverse order, it's next on my list, only 4 left to go.

Bumping this one up to share a video I just found on youtube of One Last Goodbye live in 09 (I believe). Normally can't stand the audience singing over the singer, but damn this is an exception. Left me with some major chills. Especially seeing Vincent's reaction near the end.

I still feel your love

Thanks for posting that video. I saw it once but couldn't find it again. I too got major chills. I can't imagine what it would've been like to have been at that show.

That made me cry. I felt exactly what vincent felt, the audience is so powerful and singing with emotion. That's the best live version I've heard and the best crowd singalong ever.

I gotta be the only person ever to do this, but Micky Dolenz (of The Monkees) is playing the same day as the Anathema show in Minneapolis. Micky's show is at 4PM, and Anathema is much later. I'm likely going to be seeing both concerts on September 22nd. How odd a mix of music for 1 day, lol.

So... Anathema/Alcest, co-headlining.

any idea as to which will perform first? I hope it's Alcest, as I'm more excited for Anathema and think they will leave me more satisfied.

Maybe they'll rotate from day to day?

I'm worried about how long Anathema will have to play. In addition to Alcest, Mamiffer is also on the bill. They're a pretty good band but I'd hate it if Anathema and Alcest only get an hour or so each. :| I really wish that this tour was just Anathema with either Alcest or Mamiffer opening so they'd have a longer time slot.

I agree on all counts. And if it is rotated day to day, I hope I picked the right day  :lol

I really like Alcest as well, but I have a feeling Anathema will leave me feeling inspired rather than melancholy.

As for the issue of them only playing about an hour, I'm not super concerned. For mine, doors open at 6. Mammifer will probably play almost right away for about 30-40 minutes (done by 7ish). Which leaves about 2 hours for each band, barring serious technical difficulties during the transition. Which would leave it off at about midnight.

At least, that's what I'm hoping for.  Fingers crossed.

I can't really see two bands playing for two hours each, in addition to having an opener. But I haven't been to many shows with more than 2 bands on the bill, so I'm not sure how long shows like these usually last. My only comparison was the Devin Townsend, Katatonia, Stolen Babies, and Paradise Lost concert I saw last year. The two support acts got half and hour, and DT and Katatonia only got an hour to an hour and ten minutes or so.

I guess I shouldn't worry about this as I'm sure the show will be spectacular regardless.

I sure hope its more than an hour for each band. On the venue website it says start time at 6 and end time at 12. So long as Mammifer gets done quickly, they should each get a minimum of 1.5 hours I would think.

speaking of which, how is Mammifer? I've never heard the name before, and can't find much online.

I've only listened to Mare Decendrii once, but it was pretty good. It was very mellow and relaxing. I guess I'd describe it as ambient-ish post-rock with piano. They're on Bandcamp, where you can stream their stuff for free.

Due to unavoidable circumstances our usual rhythm section of John and Jamie are unable to join us on this particular tour of America. Our fantastic drummer Daniel Cardoso recommended to us his long term musical partner and best friend Tobel Lopes as bass player for these shows. It sounds amazing and we are really very happy to be here.
This kind of sucks, but at least Danny, Vincent, and Lee will be there. I wonder who will be playing keys.. ???

Here's the setlist from last night!
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/anathema/2013/underground-arts-philadelphia-pa-7bc6466c.html

According to people who were at the show, Danny and Vincent played keys. Also, it looks like they're going to be playing for almost an hour and a half!

Not enough Alt 4/Judgement songs for my taste, but I don't live in the US and won't see the tour so who am I to complain :P
