Today is the 15th anniversary of Alternative 4! I'm listening to the album right now and I can still safely say that it's my favorite Anathema release :hefdaddy
Thank you so fucking much btw.

North American dates are up!!!!!!!!!
Form Alcest's Facebook:
Quote
Joint North American headlining tour with Anathema

In September/October 2013 Alcest will take a break from the works on their upcoming fourth album to embark on a double-headlining USA and Canada tour with the masters of atmospheric rock, Anathema.

This is what Neige has to say about the tour: "We feel honored to tour with Anathema and Mamiffer. Since years Anathema is making this unique mix of prog and emotional rock. Mamiffer is the post-rock/experimental band of Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner, talented Isis founding member and founder of Hydra Head Records. Sounds like a diverse and attractive billing! And this will also be the opportunity for us to play a few songs from our next album. See you in a few months!"

Special guest: Mamiffer

Just trying to decide whether or not I should try to catch multiple shows. They probably won't mess around much with the setlist, right? I'll definitely, at least, check out the Springfield VA show. Super excited!!!

So I was talking with a friend who I introduced this band to via Weather Systems, and she pronounced the band differently than I have been.

I was always under the impression was it pronounced Ana-THE-ma, with emphasis on the third syllable (like An-na-THEE-mah). She prounced it A-NATH-ema, with emphasis on the 2nd syllable (like Uh-NATH-eh-mah).

Which is right?

-Marc.

Pretty sure it's the latter. I pronounced it the first way initially, too. :P

same, started saying it that way but realized years later that it's properly an-NATH-uh-muh.

Ditto - I only realised the correct way to pronounce it when I saw them supporting Opeth last year and they introduced themselves to the audience  :blush

I might go to the Chicago show.  I've been listening to Weather Systems a bit recently and I'm growing fond of it.

I doubt they will, after having announced this one. I would have bought it, since I was at the Tilburg show (and you were too  ), but I'm not so sure about this one here. It's probably good, but a live recording from the show I was at would have been better for me personally.

I actually like the Tilburg setlist a bit more due to the presence of Empty, although the show in Bulgaria featured an orchestra. Either way, I truly wish the Union Chapel show was on the DVD; I'd love to have a professionally filmed version of Angels Walk Among Us, and the performance of Kingdom was awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2zSG-8avy4

Yeah, I hate that. Why not just make different versions with the exact same (bonus) content, one BluRay + CD and one DVD + CD?

I'm kind of confused about this. So, it has the show with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra on the DVD with the encore from this show on the Blu-Ray? And they played Fragile Dreams twice??

I wonder if the retail edition of the DVD will contain the whole show. I'd love to have the whole concert but I don't have a Blu-Ray player.

They played both the Hindsight version and the original one.

The trailer looks great, but I'm still not sold on the idea of not having the extras on the DVD.

Not to derail discussion of the BR/DVD here, but I can't stop listening to Weather Systems since discovering it a few weeks ago.

Good gracious, this band is hitting me hard. Have not felt this kind of raw emotion with a new band in a long time.

It's been almost a year and a half since I first listened to Weather Systems and I'm still not sick of it. I just played it this afternoon and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time I heard it.

So um... just got back from a five hour road trip, and towards the end my friend popped in an ACTUAL CD, burned with a bunch of prog artists. Anyway, towards the end, a really rockin' song came on that reminded me of Depeche Mode with a vice grip around its balls and a fire under its ass. That was song was Empty. I think I just found my gateway song into this band. I had heard a song or two off Weather Systems that I liked, but this song rocked my earbody so hard. Currently downloading Alternative 4...

Inner Silence literally brought me to tears. God damn I am so glad I found this band, Alternative 4 is the best thing I've heard since...I dunno, maybe DT's Changing Seasons. This is a powerful album though, I really love it... Anyone have any recommendations for where to go next? I'd want to try out Weather Systems but given that I've already heard some tracks off the album, I'd rather that be the last thing I get into despite that I've heard it's amazing. I want it to be as 'new' as possible.

Why does this always happen to me? Every time a band comes to town, something comes up that I won't be able to attend. I would LOVE to see them play this year, but I'll be out of town the week they come. DAMMIT!
