This September, Anathema will have a show in my town. Well, not officially confirmed yet but IT HAS TO BE TRUE!

This is going to be amazing.

Whoa. That'sw a great venue.

As for Weather Systems being AOTY, I don't know, but it's among the best ones yet. It has to fight in december against Alcest's Les Voyages de l'Âme already.

So I've had WHBWH and Falling Deeper, but I'd never gotten around to listening to WHBWH until today. Holy fuck. That's all. Can't wait to pick up their other albums and Weather Systems.

I'm surprised it took you so long, seeing how much the band has been pimped around here. :P When I first heard them I felt like they were a slightly lesser version of Porcupine Tree (don't ask me where I got the comparison from, I was a naab then) but to be honest I feel like WHBWH is better then most (maybe all) of PT's albums.

The first 5 songs are amazing. From them on... Uh, it's okay but doesn't keep up (Except from Internal Landscapes and TBATE. It's strange, I got on to Sunlight the first time I heard it and I think it's amazing unlike what some people have said before.

I honestly don't think there's a really weak song on WS.

I was referring to to WHBWH, haven't listened to WS yet.

Interesting, second half has Universal, Hindsight and A Simple Mistake. (generally regarded three of the best songs on the album)  :P

Is weather Systems out? In the US, it comes out the 24th I think...
I only listen to electro-post dubprog.  You've probably never heard of it.

Weather Systems is coming Dangerously close to passing WHBWH. I don't think I've heard a more beautiful piece of music than Internal Landscapes....ever.

No, but it has leaked (haven't listened to the leak myself).

...But it also has Get off, Get Out, which many people consider the weakest song. I agree that Universal and especially ASM are awesome but I haven't found Hindsight that excellent.

Get Off, Get Out is one of my favorites actually. :lol
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

AOTY

I was underwhelmed at first because the songs on the first half seem to use similar formulas. But around the fifth listen, the album really affected me. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard and I almost teared up at Lightning Song. On a more technical note, I'm impressed with the sparkly production and the extent to which Vincent's vocals have improved. Hard to believe this was the same guy on The Silent Enigma and Eternity. As of now, We're Here Because We're Here and Weather Systems and are neck and neck for me. The former wins in terms of songwriting, the latter wins in terms of atmosphere.

I finally got 'We're Here Because We're Here' yesterday. I'm enjoying the hypnotic nature of the songs, but not sure how much I could take of it in one sitting.

A Natural Disaster -> Hindsight -> We're Here Because We're Here -> Falling Deeper -> Weather Systems

That right here is the most perfect (And longest) 10-year-span album streak I can think of the latest 10 years of music. I know it isn't EXACTLY 10 years, but I doubt they're gonna release something on 2013 :P

Anathema have developed into a snooze fest for me.
Every song is a ballad and after a while everything tends to sound the same.
That said WS is a nice listen, but they need some variety in there.

I think he's done it chronologically.. Although I'd probably put A Natural Disaster at the top myself (Weather Systems pre-order hasn't arrived yet).

Got the CD/DVD-V Digibook version from Burning Shed today!
I am loving it so far, but Christer-Andre Cederberg made quite the confusing 5.1 mix. Sometimes it is pretty good, others times it is quite bad.
I hope Steven is able to mix their next record or at least give some pointers to this new guy.  Oh well....at least the Digibook is beautiful!

haven't heard it yet (The Omega Order sadly didn't include the DVD in their otherwise wondrous package) — can you explain why it's "confusing"?

Got My CD/DVD in today, but I got my MP3 download two days ago. Gotta say, this album is GOOD. It hasn't impacted me like WHBWH, but I suppose it's hard to top the first album you hear by a band, especially one as GOOD as WHBWH. This has the makings of a pretty good album, possibly in my Top 10 of 2012.
