Coffee or Tea?
« on: October 19, 2011, 08:24:22 PM »
Age old debate.  I am gonna go with coffee.  It's just more tasty.  Tea is boring.

I also have a prediction...the fans of traditional prog rock/metal (DT, Queensryche, Spock's, Rush, etc) or just plain hard rock will lean towards coffee, and the fans of more experimental, alternative stuff (Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Radiohead, etc) will lean towards tea.  Let's see how my prediction plays out.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Like both.  Tea has more variety and is easier to brew.  Coffee is nasty in most places it is served, but if you take making it seriously it is a wonderful drink.  It also has much more variety than many tea drinkers give it credit for.

I'm not a particular fan of either, but if I had to pick, it would be tea.

I do like iced tea though.  And it did wonders for helping ween myself off soda.

Hot coffee in the morning.

Ice cold sweet tea at night.

Maybe my theory was wrong.

Maybe not. Porcupine and Opeth are pretty much standard prog fare. Their biggest fans just pretend listening to them makes them more cultured to music outside the prog sphere

I was thinking that coffee has a really strong flavor, while tea gives this meditative, minimalist feeling.  I thought that would relate with musical taste.

Neither. I've never really been into hot drinks, so I've never tried either of them.

Hot coffee in the morning.

Ice cold sweet tea at night.

I remember southern sweet tea from when I lived in Atlanta.  They don't fuck around with the "sweet" part at all. :lol

Coffee by a nose. I prefer its richness to the soothing clean caress of tea. Both are awesome though.

I was wondering why people were mentioning bands, but I didn't notice the fine print on the OP.

But the theory is pretty spot on - I don't like tea or coffee, and I don't like prog or experimental music at all. :lol :p
(aside from DT/Opeth, I don't like any of the bands mentioned)

Coffee and none syrupy cold green tea

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Coffee.

What a great idea, I think I'll go brew a pot. BRB.
