Ok, well here are the results for set #1.
Ravenheart: Death - To Forgive is to Suffer - 8 Points.
- Death is a band I've been recommended to many a time, but I've never actually bothered to give them a listen to. Zander's entry has changed this. In just the first few seconds of the song, I knew it would kick ultimate amounts of ass, and it did. Holy shit. I was expecting heavy technical drum work, which I got, but the song itself was just fucking amazing beyond all words.
Lateralus88: Gojira - Death of Me - 7 Points.
- Same with Death, I've been told to go listen to Gojira several times, but I've never done it. But now, I have, and I've decided that they will probably become one of my top bands, easily. Listening to this song, all I could focus on was Mario's drumming and the vocals. Both of which wrecked shit. Watching Mario drum was intense, watching a man with as much skill as he has, put it to use. I was basically glued to the video for the full 5:42.
Nekov: Paul Gilbert - Jackhammer - 7 Points.
- I had no idea what to expect at first, seeing as the drums basically kept the same beat for a good while. But holy fuck, that drum solo. I was not fucking expecting that at all, and it blew me away. I've never been to keen with Gilbert's work, but I can say that this got me interested. The drummer has real talent, and I enjoyed the entire song.
mizzl: Oceansize - The Frame - 6 Points.
- This song was an incredible listen. I'd never heard Oceansize before, so I didn't really know what to expect. Every member of this band are fucking legends at what they do. The drums, on the other hand were beautiful, to say the least. I loved every minute of this tune, and will probably end up checking out the rest of their stuff.
zxlkho: Brasstronaut - The Ravan - 6 Points.
- I've heard some of Brasstronaut's stuff before, and I enjoyed it, but I never really got into it. This song was really smooth, quiet and calming and I enjoyed it. The drums, like you said, weren't the highlight of the song, but they still kicked major amounts of ass. I honestly couldn't help but focus on them, and I'm glad I did. Also, the vocalist is a fucking God. 'nuf said.
Nic35: Meshuggah - Bleed - 4 Points.
- Okay, I highly disliked the vocals for this song, which honestly made me not want to listen to the rest of it. But, I do agree the drums were pretty fucking awesome, and enjoyable to listen to. The vocals just killed it for me.
Cup: - Jeff Beck - Space Boogie - 3 Points.
- This was a very cool song, the drums were legit repetitive as fuck, and it seemed like a goddamn chore to listen to. This was my least favorite of the pick by far.
