If Jesus was a drummer.

Unfortunately he already plays guitar in the same band.

Dude...how in the FUCK does he still command that drum set night after night?  I am exhausted just watching that video.  Settle down dude!

...or don't, cause I love having my mind blown away every time I see him perform.

Simply. Amazing.

Maybe if you'd expound on why, people wouldn't give you shit.  Just sayin.

Mike Mangini in some Shanghai club on what appears to be someone else's small kit. Prepare for your mind to be blown. Be patient as he starts off just getting the feel of the kit.

It's extremely impressive from a technical standpoint, but not a foremost example of creative drumming IMO, and he could have made the different patterns flow together more smoothly and musically. They feel kinda robotic and disjointed (the sections that starts at 0:15 and the bit at 0:36 have that strange feeling, at least to me). Compare this 1-minute video with Metropolis 4:30-5:35 or 5:46-6:30 and maybe you'll see where I'm coming from. He still adds some cool feel to a very technical section, I would like to see more of that. But I think that whole instrumental section in Outcry feels disjointed, too mechanical and not musical, so that certainly affects my opinion.

Of course, the idea of ME criticizing Mike Mangini's drumming is absurd from every possible point of view :lol, but hey, this forum doesn't demand people to be musically skilled in order to have the right to criticize

I've been playing drums for 1 year and I acknowledge that I'm unworthy of saying anything about MM's capabilities. I just expressed my opinion of what I hear from my passion for music and limited experience at the instrument.

Why is it when a musician has a different style of playing does people complain about it.  People, get over it.  MM is just fine.  Well better than fine, he's fantastic.

It's because musicians (and avid music fans in general) have the highest population of opinionated peoples in the world.

This clip just shows how much melody MM has in his playing. He really is one of the most musically minded drummers around today. IMO his biggest rival is of course Marco Minnemann. Who coincidentally also has the initals MM.........  :omg:
