I saw them well over a decade ago in Atlanta back with the original lineup.  I still remember how badly my voice was shot from singing along with all the songs at that volume.  They sounded just as good live as on the albums, which I loved.  :metal

Which lineup are you referring to? I ask because officially, the original lineup of DT was with Charlie Dominici in the band, and I know DT didn't do any touring down to Atlanta then. Do you mean the lineup with James LaBrie and Kevin Moore in 1992-93, or could you be referring to the lineup with Derek Sherinian from 1994-98, or the longest lineup with Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy from 1999-2010?
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I have seen every tour once and only once with the exception of WDADU (which extremely few people saw) and the SFAM tour, which skipped Seattle.

Images and Words Tour - June 8th 1993 - Seattle

Awake Tour - Nov 27th 1994 - Seattle (for both of these first two shows, I was front row center, because I was the only person standing in line when the tickets went on sale)

Falling Into Infinity Tour - Nov 15th 1997 - Seattle

Six Degrees Tour - March 9th 2002 - San Francisco (ROAD TRIP!!)

North American Summer Tour with Queenryche - Aug 2nd 2003 - Seattle

Train of Thought Tour - March 2nd 2004 - Seattle

Octavarium Tour - April 1st 2006 - RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL NEW YORK CITY!!!!   (eternal gratitude to Setlist Scotty for that)

Progressive Nation Tour (supporting Systematic Chaos) - May 5th 2008 - Seattle

Black Clouds and Silver Linings Tour - June 21st 2010 - Portland, OR (road trip to see the headlining set from DT rather than an opening set for Iron Maiden in Seattle)

A Dramatic Turn of Events Tour - Sep 27th 2011 - Seattle

Dream Theater (Along for the Ride) Tour - April 12th 2014 - Vancouver BC (took the weekend show rather than a Monday show in Seattle)

The Astonishing Tour - May 11th 2016 - Seattle

Once on the Met2 tour in 2000 in Stuttgart
Four times on the 6 Degrees tour in 2002 in Stuttgart, Lichtenfels, Freiburg and Offenbach
Once on the Train Of Thought tour in 2004 in Stuttgart
Once on the Along For The Ride tour in 2014 in Mannheim
Once on The Astonishing Live in 2016 in Frankfurt
Once on IW/B in 2017 in Hamburg

That's 9 times as of now. I know I will attend the tour next year as well. I regret not getting to attend the Dramatic Turn tour. And (the way I see things now) I regret attending all the Portnoy era tours I've attended.

Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki, 2015. Disappointing show, because they only played one song per album and mostly hits. In contrast, Anathema (the opening act) had a very intimate acoustic set. They had lost most of their equipment during the flight and had apparently get the instruments on a pretty short notice. I really enjoyed them, even though I missed the first song and only knew songs from Weather Systems and the cover of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

Like in the Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper show I saw in 2011, the opening act was better.

That was the worst DT show in Finland for me. I have seen 2007 SC tour, 2011 Progressive nation, 2015 and 2017 I&WB tour. The 2015 one was really a typical festival set, they didn't even communicate with fans, it was really poor performance. 2017 was really much better.

I hope they played well though. (that would be the most important thing to me, I for one never saw Mike fail ever since he's in the band, that's calming)
I wasn't on that tour but I loved that they played Afterlife and Bridges and Veil.

Something like 8 times spread over 18 years in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Tilburg. Skipped the one time they played Zwolle.

What not going to list all of the LA shows? :lol

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

They really should rename the festival.
But it does have like 10-12 other small stages with really good blues bands.
And then all these pop/metal/rap/country headliners.

Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

I've been listening to DT since late 2008/early 2009, but unfortunately have only seen them twice so far. Looking to rectify that by going at least once per tour starting from the last one I saw, continuing with the upcoming Ottawa show this November. :metal :metal :metal

March 2014 - Toronto - Along for the Ride tour
November 2019 - Kitchener - Distance over Time tour pt. 2

(especially sad I never got to see The Astonishing live. It's not one of my favourite albums, but it is truly a unique album in DT's catalog, and the probably won't ever play it again. Hopefully they do play a song or two from it in the future though.
