It's not abysmal to me but I remember in the late 90s a lot of dudes started using that bouncy rhythm and poppy-bordering-on-feminine higher vocal range thing and the way that became such an overwhelmingly trendy thing just turned me off altogether. And I'm not opposed to that altogether since I love the Counting Crows.

You know what, as far as a list of pop songs goes, they are a pretty good representations of the pop songs that were somewhat original, catchy and at least not cut-worthy. I didn't look through the whole thing, but from the snipets that caught my eye, I dare say they selected a pretty decent swag of popular music that would be considered good by many.

I mean, c'mon guys, is a prog-forum ever going to be like wow this list rulez!
I punch those numbers into my calculator and they make a happy face.

With Arms Wide Open is just... Bland. Human Clay sucks balls.
I think that album still had a few good songs on it. Namely, What If, Beautiful, Faceless Man, Higher. I agree that WAWO is awful though.

Indeed. I loved My Own Prison and still do and saw them 8.26.98. They played a few new songs no one yet knew since MOP was their only release at that time and unfortunately WAWO was one of 'em. He even went on with a dialog about its meaning and all that jazz. It bummed me out that they played all the songs from MOP except for Sister and even had time for all the new songs when they could've just omitted WAWO which the crowd seemed to really wanna get into but in the end just wound up looking confused and restless. That would've easily freed up time for Sister.

Sadly, blink-182 is still an occasional guilty pleasure.
What do you mean "sadly"?!?! blink-182 is awesome!!

I agree. I love me some Blink 182.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard their new song? It's not half bad.

Looking at the list again I realize my Gorillaz's Feel Good Inc. isn't included. Strange considering that was a pretty big hit, not to mention destroys most of this list.

I think I like less than ten of these. But yeah, these songs were huge hits in the last 10 years...

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
