Volk, you need some Deicide in your life. Check their album Once Upon The Cross. Another must listen is Morbid Angel. Preferably Covenant, Blessed Are the Sick , Domination and Gateways to Annhilation. Some death metals finest right thur.

EDIT: I missed that you said modern. Check out Krisiun's newest album Southern Storm. So damn good.
