The Koyaanisqatsy Thread
« on: September 27, 2011, 11:53:54 PM »
This might be a stretch, but knowing the tastes of fans here, maybe it won't be. Koyaanisqatsy was an instrumental progressive rock band with one release, From the Yearning to Burst the Perpetual Circle. They disbanded shortly after. Their name is taken from the movie Koyaanisqatsi. Anybody who likes Dream Theater will ALMOST CERTAINLY LOVE this band! I'm sure I'm not the only one here.......but here are some of their songs for those who are new.

Listened to some of this last night, and it's pretty solid instrumental prog metal, but wow, the band didn't do themselves any favors with that brain rattling name AND a CD title that refuses to roll off the lips.  :lol
The bones of beasts and the bones of kings become dust in the wake of the hymn.
Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

The movie IS amazing! and you can play the music while you watch it, and strangely it fits together. and yeah they have a long band and album name, but the artwork is incredible and so is their music ;)

I thought this thread would be about the soundtrack to the movie as composed by Philip Glass, which is an absolutely mind-blowing piece of music.

I am extremely disappointed.

I don't own the CD, but a few years back their website had the songs as a free download, so I got it that way.  Good stuf for sure.
