I haven't seen this posted anywhere (unless I missed it), so I figured I'd post it. I was able to decipher bits of the spoken-word sample and searched for the full passage on Google. I found the full quote. Actually, it's two separate quotes from the writer Khalil Gibran. The quotes are can be found on many websites that contain lists of quotes on attitude. Here they are:
1) "Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens
to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens." -- Khalil Gibran.
2) "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." -- Khalil Gibran
And here's a Wikipedia blurb on Gibran:
Khalil Gibran (1883-1931) is a Lebanese American artist, poet, and writer. He is chiefly known in the English speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet, an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. The book sold well despite a cool critical reception, and became extremely popular in the 1960s counterculture. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu.
