Man, I haven't truly enjoyed or watched an entire interview in a long time but that was an amazing interview. Wonderful questions, polite, the interviewer didn't seem to lead the interviewee like so many do, and best of all Wilson seemed to enjoy the questions and was very expansive in his answers. Awesome stuff. I really like his insight into the creation of music and where it comes from as well as how it's created. The best part came at the very end though whenever he touched upon something that I had wondered about since I first got into music as a kid: The release of albums and the entry into the studio.
That has always baffled me and Wilson seems like the only fucking brain in the industry that even cares about something like that. I don't give two shits when you're going into the studio and I don't want to know when the album will be out; tell us at your leisure whenever you know you have material that is up to par with your standards and you actually have a viable outline of when it will be released. So many times bands will do what Wilson said and then months later they say "Oh, well it'll have to be pushed back"... well no fucking shit, you twat; you stated an album would be out before material was even written or thought of. That has always irked me and it made me love the man even more to hear someone finally bring that up. Lordy I feel like my brain came.
P.S. I don't know if it's my car's sound system or you guys are just nuts but SC sounds fucking awesome in the car. I just drove back from a very stormy downtown and it is the only time where I actually liked sitting in traffic, lighting and thunder all around, rain pouring so hard I can barely see the car in front of me... It was surreal, all thanks to SC. Happy sounded especially amazing, but Hag will forever drown me in a melancholic euphoria. After hearing all the bad things about how it sounds in a car setting, I expected to turn it off but I did the opposite and cranked that shit up. Hag is definitely my favorite track, far and away.
