Tribond - Dream Theater edition
« on: September 23, 2011, 03:02:28 PM »
I played a game called Tribond recently, and I thought it would be fun to start a little DT-themed game here on the forum.

The rules are straightforward. I will list a set of three Dream Theater songs which share something in common. (Now, there may be lots of things in common, but there is one right answer I have in mind.) Whoever guesses the connection between the three songs wins the round, and gets to post a puzzle of their own!

It can be about any part of the song - music, lyrics, credits, titles, etc. Half the fun is figuring it out! Here's an example:

1. Ytse Jam
2. Hell's Kitchen
3. Stream of Consciousness

The unifying thread for those three songs is "Instrumentals". See, pretty easy, right?

So with the rules out of the way, here's the first set of songs:

1. Learning to Live
2. Lifting Shadows off a Dream
3. Train of Tears

What common element binds these three together? Good luck!

All three are about a Portnoy relative? I believe ACOS is about his mother, and the other two about his father

They all feature spoken samples from movies? I know ACOS is from Dead poets society, and Honor thy father has some from something involving Christopher Walken, but I dunno about Best of times

I can think of much more other than the obvious. All written by Portnoy about passed away family members.

All three dealing with the idea of an afterlife/another life than the one at hand?

Or realizing potential and essentially renewing ones faith in a better life?

Learning to Live
Forsaken
Blind Faith
