shweeet.

Hmmmmm.... Another question for you oh master of the boots...

Very rarely do I jump on a bootleg that is not a soundboard recording. Are there any out there you would suggest I search for on the interwebz?

Definitely. The soundboards are but a tiny percentage of the more a thousand bootlegs available from the band. I suspect there's less than 100 of them around, and they are all concentrated in the past. I'm positive that the last true soundboard available was recorded in LA 19.09.2004.

But it's all about you, ultimately. Audience bootlegs are just like growls. Some people may be naturally tolerant to the sound of it, and many more must take some time to get used. While there are a few audience bootlegs that sound stunning enough to be mistaken for soundboards (and I'm going to make a short list off the top of my head of those), many others don't, but then again it's just a small percentage of them that are truly bothersome no matter how used you are to the classic bootleg sound.

Anyway, you may wish to download those amazing recordings:

- 2002.11.03 (Rotterdam) - A beast of a bootleg, perfect sound, almost official level
- 2012.07.16 (Boston) - Just about the same, terrific quality
- 2004.09.22 (Monterrey) - Another gem. It may be soundboard, but I'm not positive
- 2004.02.06 (Bologna) - Pro-like quality, plus audible (but not bothersome) audience partecipation. Check the video of Through Her Eyes in my youtube channel for a sample of this show.
- 1998.06.25 (Paris) - The show of OIALT, that was recorded by the audience and even got the clearance from MP to be shared, as the official release lacked almost a set.
- 1995.07.09 (Franenfeld) - A festival date (but with a killer setlist). Perfect sound, suspiciously so considering the setting, but I don't think it's a soundboard.

I could list others, but that's more than enough for a first batch, I guess :)

And since I'm in good spirits I'll add mine own favorites :tup

2000-10-14 Den Bosch, Holland (excellent recording including full performance of ACOS, distant crowd noise, nothing that really bothers).
1998-01-04 Long Island, NY (excellent recording from the FII tour, sounds like the band's playing in your living room haha).

Unfortunately it's not the full show, I believe I read that the taper lost one of the two tapes, and as such we only have the first half of the performance. Too bad, as that's really a great shooting.

I'm pretty sure the guy who posted that stuff broke a couple of GDT rules, but whatever. It's done already. Furthermore, the quality (quite great in the original bootleg) is greatly diminished in the youtube upload.

Time flies, ha?
Well, I'm in search of the best sounding show from the "Fix for '96" tour.
If that doesn't work out, I'd like to request the Tilburg '97 show (AKA "The Crimson Sunrise").
Much appreciated  ;)

I would suggest focusing on the 97 stint of the preview tour. The performances by James are infinitely superior there (and among his best),

If you have the Tilburg show than it's a deal.
Still, if you can help me regarding the '96 tour, please do so.
Just want to know about the best recording, I'll get it in time.

Why do you look for Tilburg in particular? :) It's neither the best performance nor the best recording of the leg, if I remember correctly.

There's no particular interest, except for the fact that it's a Silver CD.
If in this case the sound isn't as good as one might think, then I don't mind if you don't take this request.

Thanks, I have the Amsterdam show.
Regarding the '96 shows, I have 2 specific dates:
4th and 5th December.
Just one of these would be fine.
Otherwise, I don't mind stepping down for the March requests.
Thank you!

I checked and I have 12/04, 05 and 06 (some later shows as well, but those are better not being heard because of James's conditions). The best sounding of them is the 12/04. I guess that's your request, then :)

I was at the 12/5 show.  My freind interviewed JP for a local radio station.  He was trying to get me into the interview because he knew he'd err on some of the facts, which he did.  If I ask, he might be able to dig it out. That would be quite an interesting little piece to add to a future bootleg...maybe?

Don't like those setlists very much, anything from the Train of Thought tour, other than the Rome show.
