Lawsuits

In light of Mike Portnoy wanting to sue Dream Theater over ridiculous reasons, I decided to make this thread. I'll come back later to see what some responses are before I submit my own opinion.

What reasons are lawsuits okay? Are there too many these days? Not enough? ETC.

There are definitely too many. But there are also many reason why they're OK. People are legitimately wronged by other people and corporations all the time and they have have a way to be compensated for that. However it seems like people sue over everything these days, mostly hoping to get someone to settle I would imagine since that's cheaper than actually going to trial.
